What is Krav Maga?

Founder Imi Lichtenfeld developed Krav Maga as a form of street fighting to help Israeli citizens fend off anti-semitic riots and violence in the 1940s.

While self-defense was not a new concept at the time of Krav Maga’s development, Imi’s approach revolutionized the current standard for similar programs. Krav Maga self-defense classes did more than just fine-tune the body physically; the program also focused on preparing the mind to handle real-world situations with a variety of tactics.

Over the years, Krav Maga has grown as a self-defense program. Military officials and law enforcement programs embrace Krav Maga because of its supreme power. What can I expect from Krav Maga self-defense classes?

Krav Maga self-defense classes are similar to other Krav Maga Worldwide classes, but with more focus on developing a keen sense of awareness. Some of the physical movements taught at Krav Maga Worldwide include:

  • Elbow jabs, punches, knee jabs, and kicks
  • Training drills designed to simulate real-world situations

Imi designed Krav Maga with the idea that it should be completely accessible regardless of age, gender, or physical ability.  Krav Maga Worldwide offers beginning classes, and it’s easy to get started. In addition, our team of dedicated and skilled instructors strive to make each student feel welcome.

Level 1 Krav Maga Self-Defense Classes

In our Level 1 classes, new Krav Maga students will learn the basics of self-defense and fighting. Basic movements include perfecting their fighting stance, learning various punches and kicks, and strengthening agility.

Defense-wise, Krav Maga Worldwide teaches students how to protect themselves against punches, chokes, wrist grabs and headlocks. For students who practice about two or three times a week, this level lasts about four months. After completing the level to the instructor’s satisfaction, students become eligible to test for graduation to higher levels. With the utmost care and attention provided by our instructors, beginners will move up through the ranks in no time!
