Spam and Admin

Hi Guys.

I have been off this forum for a bit but was quite surprised to see the spam on the forum when I returned. Is the board no longer moderated?

This is a great forum, I am not a KMAA member, (I am an IKMF member,and yes we are so much more handsome) :D It just seems a pity the spammers are making inroads onto it.

In this situation, I give John and the admin the benefit of the doubt and assume that if there was a simple way to stop it, they would do so. Maybe someone with more technical knowledge could shed some light on that.

they might want to upgrade the board to a more advanced software with more control on spammers. Depends how much time they want to spend on that.

Most of this Spam we are seeing is put on the board by automated scripts. They use a script to auto fill out the registration form and then post their Spam.

Two ways to resolve this,

1. This board is an open source phpBB that can have Visual confirmation turned on in the sign up template.

2. Enable email conformation, which is not a default action of this phpBB.

One issue here is that we are running a designer template over the core engine and the Visual Confirmation is not a default option with the templates or doesnít work when enabled, so you have to change your template code to allow it to work, I can point the Admin to the right spot if this is what he/she would like to do that, to help cut down on the Spam.

Much spam can be deleted just by looking at the title:

Ok, not all spam is so easy to spot...I didn't know the \"increase your penis size by 3 inches!\" was not real. I want my money back.

I don't think it would be very hard to delete these threads. You probably just click on a coupla things, gone they are. However, could be that some people on here are really enjoying the free porn (and the penis enlarger)! :wink:

Yep, no contest! I mean, Eyal looks kinda cute/shy (besides I think the photo is a few years old), but our three... El guapo looking guapissimo and then Amir, 230 pounds of lethal beauty, simply can't beat that! :wink: Then there is Darren, the handsome attorney and what about John or Sam (not pictured)? They aren't bad either. Come to think of it, maybe we should take some photos and make one of those nude calendars for next year, featuring our pretty boys.... :lol:

Yeah, what's with this? Also, while we have the El Lay people, why do people from SoCal put \"the\" in front of the names of highways like \"the\" 101 or \"the\" 110? In NoCal, I mean NorCal we say take 101 to 17..etc..etc..blah blah..yada yada.

Well, I guess it's because they are referring to an actual object, the freeway, which has the designated name \"101\". Just saying \"I'll take 101\" sounds as if you are talking about taking an actual number, which would make no sense at all. But it's okay, don't worry about it, it's a well-known fact that all of the smart people live in Southern California... :wink:

The calendar thing, you know, it's like that true to life story \"Calendar Girls\". Some old ladies in England making a calendar, featuring nude photos of themselves to raise money for something (forgot for what exactly, but it was important!). Anyway, it was a huge hit, then other people started copying the idea, so you'd have nude firefighters, cops, kittens etc.

So, I was thinking, since we are doubtlessly having the most handsome KM teachers in the entire world, it would be a great idea to produce just such a calendar, featuring our boys. We'd call it \"The Men of Krav Maga\" and it will have a different picture of a nude or seminude KM instructor every month. They will pose in different self-defense situations and weapons will be strategically placed to cover the more revealing parts (the rifle right in front of... you know).

If, for any reason, we should run out of handsome guys, we should certainly feel free to use Amir twice.

I believe it would be a huge success come Christmas time (the perfect stocking stuffer!). It would attract attention and get us thousands of new students all around the world, besides establishing once and for all that the KMAA has the most handsome men around. And all the IKMF would have to show for it would be that tired old picture of Eyal. 8)

It may be a Northern thing. Seriously, how come people from Northern countries (Germany, Sweden, Finland) seem to be so much more at ease with taking their clothes off than people from Southern countries (Spain, USA). Swedes jump nude into frozen lakes and it's all good, but have a girl take off her top on a hot beach in SoCal for just a moment and get a 200$ ticket. Weird. Shouldn't it be the other way around?

Oh, and I think I should get about a dollar in royalties for each \"KM men\" calendar sold. I will be a millionaire in no time!! :D

What I've always wondered is why it is that people you least want to see naked (i.e., pale/hairy/flabby, regardless of gender) are the ones most willing to get naked?
