Hello everyone. I'm new to Krav Maga and very motivated to begin training. The only problem is that I live in central Illinois about and hour and a half from the nearest training facility. I've ordered the DVD set and have been studying the book by Imi Sde-Or.
My wife is quite small and not really interested in letting me throw her around, so I need to find someone who shares my interest in Krav training. We have a number of martial arts dojo's here in Peoria, but I don't want to learn how to be an action movie star. I want to learn to eliminate a threat. Karate is ok, don't get me wrong.....but I'm not really into spiritual enlightenment or learning about dragons and snakes. I just want to keep from getting hit in the head with a baseball bat.

So if anyone else is like me and happens to live around Peoria, Il, maybe we can spar and train a couple of times a week. Thanks.

If I were you I would try and find a Muay Thai and BJJ school
combine those two!

It's not Krav Maga but it will make a first class street fighter.

It's better than practising from the videos

For self-defense, buy Kill or Get Killed, Get Tough, Mr. Cestari's and McCann's DVDs on WW2 combatives, a BOB Dummy and train yourself. As effective and much easier to learn on your own. If you want to spar and compete, find a local TKD dojo.

Yeah, I've been looking at the BOB punching bags to beat the hell out of, they're really cool but a little pricey. Given that I don't have much of an option, I guess its cheaper than joining a training facility. It's really killing me that something as perfect for me as Krav is out there and I just can't learn it the right way around here. I can't even convince anyone I know to learn with me. See....I want to do the whole nine yards; cardio, self defense, hand to hand combat, but everyone I know is lazy and very un-motivated. I've been doing the cardio workouts for a while now and wearing out my heavy bag. The thing that drives me nuts is that you can't even begin to learn the art of krav with a heavy bag alone.

I guess I could practice the motions alone and then hand a total stranger a rubber knife and tell them to stab me. :D We have plenty of mental hospitals that the athorities would encourage me to join.

Thanks for the help guys, I'll keep training as best I can and hopefully soon I be able start learning the right way!
