Well after much work, Bas is ready to roll with his newest program! KMW has started marketing it to their licensed locations so I decided to make a post on it. As many of you know, Bas has had a long standing relationship with KMW and many of the training centers have worked with Bas directly and are licensed "Bas Rutten MMA System" locations.

With his newest program the "Bas Rutten Fight Club" you can offer his specialized training at your location. Because of his relationship with KMW, Bas is offering a special licensing fee only available to KMW licensees. Below is the link to the flyer and feel free to email licensing@basruttensystems.com if you have any questions.

Gotta agree, how can you not like him. Between his cd's, and some of the tips I've picked up from him on youtube (and posted here) Bas is almost like a personal trainer.

Hi Kirsten
This looks really interesting, I don’t really know much about you other than I see you post a lot and are involved with Law Enforcement, can you explain a little more about your relationship with the Bas program.
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p> </o:p>
Is this different than the other course Ive seen I think its called “Complete Combat”
<o:p> </o:p>
Is this more an MMA course or Krav Combatives?
<o:p> </o:p>
Sorry just trying to see what sets it apart from the other stuff I’ve seen recently.
<o:p> </o:p>
Thanks, look forward to your reply.

PS: I thought Oneness was the guy who did the Bas stuff so I guess I’m out of the loop.

Simon, yes I am on the Force Training side of things mostly with KM. My historyÖ I was a sworn police officer for several years. I worked everything and was a DTac instructor but at the end I worked mainly cyber crimes and child porn cases. Now my focus is KMFTD and BRS while I finish up school. Hoping to head back to patrol and catch more dirt bags as soon as that gets done! I have been teaching for the last 17 years. I competed in the 2000 Olympic Team trials and I am a State, local and Nationally recognized medalist for TKD.

I am a FTD instructor, not the civilian oneñ but the actual LEO certification and I have been thru Expert 1. Oneness is still involved with the Bas Rutten Systems. He is the Senior Lead Instructor for the MMA System. But currently he works for the Oregon Dept. of Corrections and heads up their DTac training program for the entire stateñ from Krav Maga which is their official DT program to firearms, less lethal, cell extraction, you name it, he is teaching it. So I have taken over licensing and management for Bas.

The FC course is designed for the school owner or instructor that wants to improve or add a sparring program into their location. Not every student wants to be a pro-fighter, but I have been talking about the benefits of sparring for the purposes of self-defense for a long time. But we often find that students are intimidated or get hurt and give up after a few ìfightî classes.

What Bas, Sam Sade, Oneness and I did was create a program that is geared to the non-fighter, the average student. It will increase your retention, build your students self-defense skill level, improve their conditioning, take their striking to a whole new level and do it in a fun, safe and proven to work manner. Itís a truly innovative program.

I hope that helps some,

KravMDjeff

Kirsten, from your wording, I would assume that you feel as though the civilian LE certification is either less valid or invalid compared to the Series LE certifications. With all due respect to the years of experience you have as an officer (which I both respect and admire), wouldn't you agree that having instructors teaching solid Krav Maga is a potentially life-saving asset to any LE agency, even if the instructors they have access to are civilians?

Kirsten
12-16-2009, 07:45 PM
Nope not invalid, there is just a different course for the two. There is the civillian force, then the FTD instructor courses. One requires you to be a KM instructor, the other a cop.

and the first Expert course, not Expert 1.

Simon, I thought I would give some additional information between the MMA System and the new ëFight Clubí Program.
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p> </o:p>
For those that donít know; long ago, Krav Maga Worldwide changed their stance and even some of their stand-up striking and defenses to what Bas Rutten was doing. It was a perfect fit and we have all benefited from the relationship between the two. After the Complete Combat Seminars, more and more schools wanted additional knowledge of the Bas Rutten program; so Bas started Bas Ruttenís MMA System (BRMMA).
<o:p> </o:p>
This MMA program is a full fledge program for those instructors or school owners that want to add a world class proven Mixed Martial Arts program. It is a belt system that Bas Rutten has been teaching for years to many amateur, professional fighters and fight teams. The MMA System includes all aspects that are required for a well rounded MMA program - wrestling, submissions and also stand-up striking.
<o:p> </o:p>
Several of our licensees and our school use Basí MMA system to teach and turn students into amateur, professional fighters and champions in MMA. Most of the students we teach have never fought, wrestled and or even tried martial arts before. But, like most, after watching the UFC; they became enamored and interested in learning to fight and compete or at least train like a MMA fighter.
<o:p> </o:p>
Our school and the other licensees not only focused on MMA fights, but also Submission tournaments, such as the ADCC, Grapplers Quest and NAGA. They competed and climbed the division ladders in those tourneys from the novice division all the way to the professional division level. The MMA system Bas built and fine tuned in recent years has allowed each of them to excel and progress toward their own personal goals.
<o:p> </o:p>
The ëFight Clubí was developed from feedback we received from our current licensees, from other school owners and even from our school. Most wanted a world class fight/striking program for their existing Krav Maga, Karate, or TKD program but not all wanted a full MMA program. Most of their students would never compete, but they did want to learn to strike, spar and improve in a proven world class system.
<o:p> </o:p>
Kirsten and I were already incorporating many elements of the BRMMA system into our Krav Maga program and the students were responding. We saw a major improvement in their confidence, transitions and movement, positioning and overall recognition of strikes and counters beyond what was already instilled in Krav Maga. This implementation was not something new, but actually a continuance to what Bas started many years ago teaching at the Krav Maga National Training Center to Darren Levine, Amir Perets, Sam Sade and the rest of the KM instructors. Bas Rutten Systems builds off of what is already taught in Krav Maga, because itís the stance and basic striking from Bas Rutten.
<o:p> </o:p>
The ëFight Clubí will build students faster and better and it will also incorporate the number one MMA workout ñ Bas Ruttenís MMA workout it. Many of the Krav Maga schools use the MMA workout, combinations and conditioning elements in their classes. Why? Because it works! Itís even being used by LA Boxing now.
<o:p> </o:p>
It allows the students to continue their training even when they are not in class! Because we will show you how to build every aspect, you will retain your students, because they will progress and never get bored. The basic combinations build retention, muscle memory and allow students to progress faster and to rely on them under stress.
<o:p> </o:p>
ëFight Clubí elements are even being implemented into the OR Dept of Corrections physical fitness program. The striking is the foundation for the Health and Fitness classes. 3500 officers receive instruction and workouts that will build confidence, muscle memory and retention in their skill sets and also improve their physical condition. We have already had several success stories in its short infancy.
<o:p> </o:p>
The DOC Health and Fitness program gives us another avenue to build their confidence and also reinforce skill sets in the Krav Maga Force Training DT program, which is now their official DT program. So the Fight Club has been a natural addition to any KM program since Bas Rutten and Krav Maga operate in sync with each other. Now with Sam Sade teaching the Fight Club courses with Bas and Kirsten, everything is focused on the primary mission: To mesh world class fighting and training methods with reality based self-defense in a fun, safe and proven effective method.

I just wanted to drop a quick note to say that everyone did an awesome job during the course! Sam, Bas and I had a great time training with everyone and we came back with some great feedback and fantastic ideas.

Several new courses are being added to the schedule based on the requests for training. We are scheduling courses as we speak for not only California, but the midwest, east coast, UK, Canada and Europe. Wow. Thanks again to everyone that participated!

Pictures are up on our Facebook page, both the business page and I am working on the fan page and website pics! You can find us on facebook by going to: www.basruttensystems.com and scroll down, you will see the link to the main FB page on the lower left side of the page.

Hi guys. Because I have had so much interest in courses being held at Bas' training center in California- here is a schedule of courses we have so far. There is also 1 international course listed, but we have several more that we are adding as I type this. So keep checking back and I will get them up soon. You can also always email me at licensing@basruttensystems.com to see if there is one coming close to you this year.

Too many aspects to cover. I"m no billy bad-ass but i feel so much more confedent with everything. My foot work: i notice i don't think about it anymore it just happens naturaly. Striking is loads better, no more flurrys of uncontrolled punches i have a much more tactical decision making paradigm.
to be honest I'm getting really good at the mental end of it as well, it's interesting to me how i carry my self with partners of different skill level's, how i can find myself running offense on someone who's intimidated by me versus how much defense i use vs some who intimidates me. The biggest gain to my fight game has got to be my reaction time. Like i said so many aspects of a fight and I'm still pretty green. but I'm just glad for Lynn and this program. It's the best thing for me right after an L4/5 class.

Wow, Inky this is all so great to hear!!! Thank you for taking the time to give us some feedback. We put a lot of thought and time into the curriculum. It's our hope that a Fight Class using the Bas Rutten Systems Fight Club material is something students look forward to, don't get hurt in, and really begin learning about HOW to spar. I think your more proof that its working. I am looking forward to sharing the post with Bas! Thanks. :)

Hi guys,

We are looking forward to the Level 2 Instructor Course for the Fight Club program this next weekend. We will be out at Bas' gym in Westlake Village, CA. We will have several KMW blackbelts there, of course and Oneness has special grappling clinic that will be free to all of the participants. He will be teaching "Breaking the Rubber Guard" using Bas Rutten Systems, MMA techniques.

Going to be great fun and we are looking forward to the Black Mat MMA family attending again. If you haven't checked these guys out yet, please do. They run a not for profit to teach MMA to at risk youth. GREAT PROGRAM and we are happy to be a part of it!

See you soon.
