Hi there
I'm 48 years old and started taking Krav Maga in mid-April at the Naugatuck facility of CT Krav Maga. Having an absolutely fabulous time learning this system.
I have some previous martial arts experience in Tae Kwon Do and Shotokan but from literally 2 decades plus ago. Made it to the middle belts and lost interest. Over the years I ballooned up in weight until April 4 of this year when I finally had enough.
I went on a lifestyle change- did a 180 on my diet, hit the gym 6 days per week, walk all the time and have now added KM 4 nights per week. So far I have dropped 21 pounds and feel much better. KM is tough right now for me as I need to drop another 100 lbs but I dont quit unless my body fails me!
Seeing as how I am also a tactical shooter I was looking for a tactical hand-to-hand style and am grateful I found krav. I much prefer this to the more flowery, kata based systems- much more realistic in my book!
Anyway my goals are currently set on 1- being able to do a sit up! and 2- focussing on getting to Level 2. An extreme long range goal is potentially trying to become an instructor.
For now I'm going to go browse the other forums for tips. advice, etc.
