Hello all my name is Frank Gandara I got away from training over some time ago but I'm back and with my new training partner, my 16 yr old Daughter. Her first class was last night and she loved it. But at 4'-11 1/2" and barely 100lbs she was the smallest in the class. she's a little sore this morning but still beaming!

Welcome -Introduce Yourself
Hello Everyone,
My name is Joe and after taking a year in a half off, I am making a comeback into Krav and I couldn't be happier. Have trained on and off for 3-4 years, under different organizations such as Worldwide, International, Israeli Krav. I've followed the board on and off for the last few months and I've found the members to be very knowledgeable and kind in their answers to new members and comers to Krav. I am proud to be a new member of this awesome forum. Thank you.

Hello!
I have been a member of this board for awhile, but have gone years without checking it.
I am a level 2 Krav student and have an amazing Krav Maga instructors as my spouse! I've been taking classes for a year now and will be testing to level 3 within the next few months. I'm the mom to 3 boys (all of whom are in Krav Maga) and work as an operations manager for a semiconductor company. Because I work a compressed work week, I only get to train 3 or 4 days a week.
Hope to be spending more time here in the future.
Thanks,
Vicki

Welcome back Vicki!
Isn't it great having a Krav hubby? It hasn't happened yet, but I think if we ever really got pissed off at each other, time to spar!

I started a thread of my own, before getting into this one. New to site, but not to Krav. Active duty Navy guy. (Prior enlisted Arabic linguist, current officer.) Love Krav, still looking for the right place in San Diego to train. . .

Hiya
Lisa here. My hubby and I started Krav and we trained for about 2 months. We had to stop. Allen (Hubby) is trained in Nitsi Go Jryu (sp??), Tai Chi, and Akido. Me, nada :-). Found a great instructor but unfortunately he is far away, and decided to let 2 others that he trained to be the trainers. They are fantastic, but not as good. Trying to find a closer class. I was hooked the second I tried it ... Thanks.

Re: Welcome -cmon Introduce Yourself
Hello everyone.
My name is Cat and I'm a 31 year old woman from The Netherlands. I started Krav Maga a little over a month ago and I train twice a week, at a local school affiliated with the International Krav Maga Federation.
I wanted to feel more secure in my body, more secure on the streets and maybe, added bonus, lose some weight. It's amazing to me how my weight hasn't dropped at all, but I'm suddenly gaining definition all over and can now actually feel biceps instead of just flab :)
There's mostly men in my group and I try to keep up with them, which means I train a lot harder than I would if I were to go to a gym on my own. I really like the psychological aspect too - walk away if you can, know where you are, where the nearest exit is, etc.
The 360 defense is giving me the most trouble, I just can't seem to get it right. And it got me some of these, but I wear them with a tinge of pride:
So I look forward to sharing some more stories from my training with you in time, and learning from you all.
PS: I hope it doesn't matter that I am affiliated with a different KM organisation than this website.
best wishes
Cat

Re: Welcome -cmon Introduce Yourself
Just started training a month ago, and I love it. I always wanted to learn Krav Maga, but I was always too heavy, and I did not want to be embarassed. I changed my lifestyle a couple of years ago, lost 140 pounds (down to to 250 now), joined a gym, quit smoking and tried to get in shape. I am now almost 50, and figured I am not getting any younger, so I signed up for Krav Maga at the Training Edge.
I am thoroughly enjoying it (my Wife is tired of hearing how much I like it), and the added benefit of the cardio workout before and after class has me well on my way to achieving my goal of 225 lbs. by June of next year.

Re: Welcome -cmon Introduce Yourself
Hello
My name is Fred. I am 61 years old. I use to be a body builder until 10 years ago. I also worked heavy construction starting at 17 years old, and was a bouncer in a biker bar in New York. I was in two bad accidents 5 years ago and had to go on Social Security. I have raised two families and now I am raising my granddaughter. I got her when she was six months old and now she is 5 and started school. I have to get back into shape to keep up with her. For the last 5 years, I just stayed home. I have looked at several martial arts style and Krav Maga seemed my best bet to learn. We have so many gangs in California that this has become a must learn program. I would also like to find a place where my granddaughter could take lessons. I am glad to be here to learn as much as I can.

Re: Welcome -cmon Introduce Yourself
Hi I'm new here too.. I've been training for almost 8 months after a acl reconstruction.. I'm so glad to be back. Love my gym. WCKM in Murrieta. I turned 50 a few months ago so I'm usually the oldest one in the class, so getting the body to co operate is sometimes a challenge. But I will persevere.. Krav is soo much more motivating than going to a gym!

Hello All,
I just joined the forum and recently started Krav last March in Junction City, Or. I have a background in Goju-Ryu, JKD, Aikido, wrestling and boxing but I haven't done anything in about 10 years. My gym offers both Krav and Bas Ruten Fight Systems. I love it and I wish I had started years ago!

Hi fellow KM addicts,
I just started KM classes in The Netherlands two times each week and i'm looking forward to every class and since i'm very focused and give 110% its allready tough to keep myself from hurting training partners. So protection seems to be very important for me and others in training.
I didn't expect the KM virus would hit me so hard.

Welcome. Keep in mind, if you hurt training partners no one will want to work with you. This has been a problem from time to time at my training center. Remember, one of Imi's first rules was don't get hurt.

Re: Welcome -cmon Introduce Yourself
What types of injuries are happening? Sometimes its a matter of having your partner turn their head. Remember you should be just as concerned about hurting the people you train with as you are about hurting yourself. The people I workout with are as close to me as family, so the last thing I want to do is cause permanent injury to one of them. That being said accidents happen and family forgives but intentional injury will force a more aggressive response on someone part.

Welcome folks,
It would be best to start a new thread on this kind of topic. This thread is really for just introducing yourself. Nice someone replied but a new thread more eyes may see it

Hello everyone. I had a brief introduction to KM back in 2002, and am most interested in reaquainting with it. The apparent lack of any place training in KM in Wichita Ks. has me at a loss however, and anyone near my locale who is familiar/currently training that would not mind pointing me in the direction to remedy this: I offer thanks in advance.

Hello,
I'm Ryan, 17, living in Stockton Ca. 5'6, 150, not in shape.
I've been eager to take classes to learn self defense, and I think Krav Maga is it! I have never had prior martial art experience, or fighting experience, so this world is completely new to me!
I've been reading posts on this forum for a while, and I thought, why not actually go on and ask a few questions? Well, here I am. Excited and can't wait to learn all about Krav Maga!
I look forwward to meeting everyone!

Hello everyone! I've been locked out of the forum because I couldn't remember my password. The forum administrator fixed that.
Anyway, just to let you know--I passed my level 1 test in January and I'm now a level 2 fighter.
For those who think they are too old for Krav Maga--I will be 59 years old on Sunday.
It's never too late to try something new.

Re: Welcome -cmon Introduce Yourself
Greetings all, Ben from South Australia, I learned about Krav through a co-worker and have begun the training, absolutely loving it, I found the sparring a little difficult at first because I am by nature pretty shy, yet am blown away by how I am getting back into a strong level of fitness through it. I know very little about self defence systems and so on but am really enjoying learning about Krav and have made it a goal to achieve that first grading!
