Default Elbow injury

Hi all, Quite a few years ago I broke my radius (elbow) in a Mt bike crash. My arm was hyper extended and the radius cracked. At the time the doc said all he could do was put it in a splint and just let it heal.

While I have a little less range of motion in that arm it really hasn't bothered me until a couple weeks ago in class I was holding one of the tombstone pads while my partner was doing kicks and apparently I was holding it in the wrong position with the palm side of my hand facing outwards. One of his kicks caused my arm to twist outwards and it hurt like the dickens.

I noticed during my last class while doing strikes from a headlock position that I had pain going down my forearm and reduced strength when doing strikes.

Anyone had this problem? I was thinking of getting a brace for my elbow but wondered how that would effect my motion.

Where in the arm does the pain originate? If it is on the outside of the elbow, right on the joint and is painful to the touch, it could be \"tennis elbow\". I've been struggling with this condition for overa year now. I'd suggest seeing a Doctor if you can afford it before the situation gets worse. If you can't see a Doctor, go to WebMD on the internet and type in \"elbow pain\" and follow the links.
Don't screw around with this! Today's minor irritation can easily turn into a chronic nagging condition woithout treatment. Don't mean to lecture...

I've been rehabbing from acl injury and so talk to a lot of people about their knees. I know knees and elbows are very different joints, but every person I talk to who has chronic trouble with their knee (outside of arthritic issues) usually results from diminished range of motion. I agree with Al, go see a doc or even a physiotherapist--who will probably be able to give you exercises on rom and specific muscle work.

The pain is more going from the elbow down my forearm. I think it's some sort of ligiment damage. I know I should just go to a doctor but during the original injury he was just like put it in a splint and let it heal. I'm pretty sure he'll look at it and refer me to a specialist which I'm not to thrilled about, but I guess I'll just have to do it.

Thanks

Another possibility is that you have a condition called Radial Nerve Entrapment. Only a well trained doctor can determine this, but an accurate diagnosis is important. Caught early, it can be treated with PT, wait too long, and the nerve damage can become permanent.

Freelancer, please do yourself a favor and get it checked out. I don't think a forum is the best places get answers for these kinds of questions.
