Thanks.. but what am i supposed to do. Krav maga from what ive read is exactly what i want to learn. I want to learn real life situations. What do i have to do to get involved? God this really frustrates me, all through my tech school in the air force i was reading about this interesting and legitamate style and now i cant learn it?

There are others in the same boat as you - no center nearby to train at. You can get the Complete Krav Maga Book by Darren Levine and John Whitman. You can also get the KM DVD set. Those will certainly get you on your way until hopefully a center is open. If you can find a friend to train with, all the better.

IKMF isn't an "Offical KM Worldwide location" though... our affiliates are all found on the link Sean provided. However if an affiliate is not near by and you have no interest in becoming one *hint, hint*... then try that perhaps. :-)

The map is kept as up to date as possible with current schools. You could always make a post and see if someone can help ya out in that regard. On occasion a school may be in the process of opening up and it may not yet be posted on the map.

Whatever locations you see on the map (first post) is what's current. If there's a school in the process of opening, in that case it may not be on the map. I would periodically check back or you could make a new separate post.

You could get the KM DVDs and Complete Krav Maga book in the meantime. There's definitely been others who haven't had a center to train at in the beginning. Also consider traveling to take a class or 2 at a center even if it's far away. True, you can't go there all the time, but having training from a certified instructor and training with students of different levels is something the book and DVDs can't replace.

Hi, I'm looking for a self defense class. I'm currently enrolled in a wushu/kung fu class, but it seems the school is more interested in training the "pretty" aspects of it, while I want to learn more how to defend myself. I looked at the map, and there are currently no certified instructors in New Mexico, but I was wondering if there is anyone not certified who might be able to... I don't know, teach me what they know or some techniques or something until I can take certified classes? Thanks!

Have you looked at getting the KM DVD or the KM books? Granted they don't replace a class but they can certainly get you started.

I am trying to locate a Krav Maga next to me (either in NJ, or in Manhattan), I found one in Manhattan on 14th street through google maps, but that location is not listed on this site. Does that mean that the location is not recognized(certified) by your organization or the map on this web-site is outdated?

Also if anyone has any feedback on that location on 14th street, I would appreciate it, since I am very interested and will probably go there. I just don't want to waste time to find out if its bad.

I second the request for a school in Atlantic City, NJ. Either that, or Toms River.

It seems people in southeastern New Jersey have to commute a minimum of 50 miles to get to the closest training center.

Certified KM instructors please take a look at Central Florida to setup shop! There is a lot of interest, large population and commercial space is very inexpensive at this time with plenty of choices. I loose count the number of people every week asking if I know an Official KM place around here beside the franchise available now.

Many end up in the BJJ gyms in the area, which is not a bad choice but not optimal when they are looking for self defence with weapons
