Default Louisville, KY and cost

I saw that Core Louisville is the only place that trains for Krav Maga. I also found out that membership is $90 a month. Is this normal for typical memberships? I'm a starving college student and this is just not reasonable at all. Do I have any other outlets? I saw that they have books and DVD's but how beneficial are these? I guess would it depend one's personality?

Welcome to the forum!

The book and DVDs are great but I do have to say though they don't replace a real instructor learning with other students. I had gotten these after I'd been in KM a few years and they're great references for me.

As for price, it depends on the area you're in and what's included in the membership fee. The schools are not cookie-cutter per se - yes they teach Krav but what kind of classes they offer and how often is up to each school as far as I've read on the boards. Here's some threads.

Hope this helps some

That price sounds about right. I think I paid less because I joined for the entire year. But around here the gyms cost not much less. The books and DVD's are helpful but it always help to have someone there that knows what they are doing. Plus to have someone holding the pad vs shadow boxing is totally different and moving around.

That's real close to what this area is. How many classes can you take per week?
I can train 6 days a week if I want to. Break that down in 4 weeks and $90 a month is a good price per class.

I disagree that $90 per month is an unreasonable price for a facility as large and nice as Core Combat Sports, not to mention the highest level instructors in the area. As far as I know they do offer discounts for full time students as well.
