Instructor Belt Testing Policy

For belts Yellow through Brown an instructor must be one belt higher than the level they are testing their students.

Belt and Level Break Down

  • Phase A = Level 1 – Yellow Belt Material
  • Phase B = Level 2 – Orange Belt Material
  • Phase C = Level 3 – Green Belt Material
  • Expert 1 = Level 4 – Blue Belt Material
  • Expert 2 = Level 5* – Brown Belt Material
  • Expert 5 = Level 5 – Black Belt Material

Instructor Eligibility

Upon passing Phase A

  • Teach Level 1
  • But can not administer a belt test.

Upon passing Phase B

  • Teach Levels 1 & 2
  • Administer a Level 1 belt test.

Upon passing Phase C

  • Teach Levels 1,2 & 3
  • Administer Level 1 & 2 belt test.

Upon passing Expert Series 1

  • Teach Levels 1,2,3 & 4
  • Administer belt test for levels 1,2 & 3

Upon passing Expert Series II

  • Teach Levels 1,2,3,4 & 5*
  • Administer belt test for levels 1,2,3,4

Upon Passing Expert Series V

  • Teach Levels 1,2,3,4 & 5*
  • Administer belt test for levels from Yellow – Brown only

Black Belt Test

At this time individuals, student or instructor can only be tested to Black Belt in Los Angeles by Krav Maga Worldwide.  All black belt tests must be administered by a min of 2, 3rd Dan (or above) senior instructor. No single instructor can conduct a black belt test and promote individuals to the black belt level.   An individual must be 2 belts higher and an instructor in order to test one to black belt.

All black belt tests must be schedule through Krav Maga Worldwide.  All candidates for black belt must be approved by 2 Krav Maga Worldwide senior instructors of 3rd Dan and above.

*A level 5 class consist of both brown and black belt material based on the need of the students and level of the instructor. There are generally fewer students at this level so we have combined the levels into one class.
