Moving to a new place but there aren’t any good KM schools around at all, so I was wondering how to continue Krav without any good schools? There’s a muay thai and bjj school that I’m going to join but really wanted to continue KM, but I’m not about to join a KM school that primarily teaches Kung Fu and KM on the side. lol… yeah… don’t think so.

    So any suggestions?
    Book?
    DVD?

Can you even progress in KM training by yourself? I think not?

Why would you not join a school that teaches Krav Maga and another Martial Art on the side?

Fact of the matter is, Krav is not nearly as widely known as any of the other arts so it’s not realistic to expect some smaller areas to teach Krav Maga on the side. Heck I attend a school that teaches primarily Tae Kwan Do and have no problems whatsoever with them.

Truth is unless you have someone to train with who is also knowledgeable all the books and videos in the world won’t make a difference, you need to practice them on someone.

The KM book has been very helpful for us but it’s been more of a reference guide. We’ve seen many of the moves before and the book just helps me remember the part of a move that didn’t click with me before. The explanations are excellent but there are some moves that seeing before the book makes more sense for me.

The KM DVDS are really good since you see the moves in real time and slowly. Like HS said though, there’s only so many you can do by yourself. To get the realistic response you want from yourself, somebody’s gotta attack you.

Can you send us a link of the “Kung Fu” school that teaches Krav on the side? Maybe we can evaluate it and give a better opinion. I wouldnt just throw it out without at least checking it out and trying classes. Truth is, after doing Krav , I cant see myself doing anything else other than Krav, Jeet Kune Do or Muay Thai. If none of those were available, I’d rather just box. Dont give up on Krav so easy. Send that link!

Well I wouldn’t waste my money for starters becaues the school only teaches up to Level 2, and only has 2 classes a week.

I currently go to 10 level classes a week, I’m not about to waste $150 a month to go only twice a week.

Second, I shouldn’t be level 2 for more than another month… yes I know you skeptics out there, especially the ones that doubted me when I said I would advance to level 2 in a month, which I did dispite the negativity.

Anyways, I just need to know what’s the best route to go on with training in KM. I don’t want to stop, but the only places to really train are MMA gyms. . . and kung fu rofl2

You could always see if you could find a place that would allow you to test, that may be within reach.

Then you could teach KM at the Kung Fu school.

    Just a thought.

Ask around at KMWW if thay have, or plan to have a Distance Learning Program. No training can replace live training but sometimes there is no alternative. Many military people are using this now since they are over seas….not Krav, I mean all martial arts.

Then you can go to a local MA place like JKD or Muay Thai (these two are in MY OPINION closest to Krav–especially JKD) and keep up with your Krav Maga via Distance Learning.

Or, like the previous post said, stay where you are and get certified and BRING Krav to your new location (is that possible?).
