CJ Kirk serves as Steward of the Krav Maga System for Krav Maga Worldwide— the highest functional responsibility for protecting the system’s architecture, governing principles, and long-term integrity as it evolves globally.

The role of Steward is structural, not ceremonial. It exists to ensure that expansion, modernization, and curriculum development occur without dilution of identity or fragmentation of standards. As Steward, Kirk safeguards the coherence of instructor development pathways, integrates modern threat domains responsibly, and protects the architectural logic that defines Krav Maga as a principle-driven system rather than a collection of techniques.

In recognition of his nearly three decades of contribution and system-level mastery, he was also designated Krav Maga Worldwide’s first Master Instructor— a distinction reserved for individuals who demonstrate architectural fluency, produce high-level instructors, and expand the system without compromising its core foundation, governing principles, or internal coherence. The designation reflects the ability to strengthen, refine, and evolve the system while preserving its identity, sequencing, and operational logic.

Kirk began his Krav Maga journey in 1998 under Darren Levine, 10th Degree Black Belt, Founder’s Diploma holder, and U.S. Chief Instructor. Under that direct lineage, he developed a deep respect for system integrity and architectural discipline— principles that continue to shape his leadership today.

Over the years, Kirk built a reputation for integration— the ability to see how individual motor skills interlock across the system, how movements can be repurposed to address evolving threats, and how curriculum can expand while remaining anchored in principle.

He is also the Chief Instructor and thought leader behind Krav Maga Houston, where he developed one of the organization’s most respected instructor cadres— a team known for technical precision, system literacy, and leadership development.

His system expansion work includes:

• Founding Kravology.com and producing over 500 articles and instructional videos advancing Krav Maga’s principles worldwide

• Designing the Krav Maga Worldwide Advanced Edged Weapons Curriculum

• Creating the KMW Handgun Shooting Curriculum

• Developing the KMW Situational Awareness Certification

• Building the Courage Coaching Certification to integrate leadership and performance science into martial arts training

Beyond the mat, Kirk bridges combatives, human performance, and business architecture. He is a Certified Master Performance Coach and licensed Performance Life Coach, integrating performance science directly into training. He holds Advanced Force Training certification and has trained military and law enforcement personnel, in addition to founding a tactical shooting school.

Academically, he holds both a BBA and MBA and spent a decade as a corporate consultant specializing in benchmarking and customer value analysis for Fortune 500 companies— experience that now informs his systems-level leadership approach within Krav Maga Worldwide.
