Looking to begin training in KM and would love to hear from some of you that are experienced in this field.

Which would you recommend of the following training material for someone wanting to start training and learning right away?

    Videos:

    * http://www.closecombattraining.com

    or this series at Amazon
    * Krav Maga Personal Protection: The Israeli Method of Close-Quarters Fighting Combat 6 DVD Set
    by Alain Cohen

    Book Set:

    * Krav Maga: An Essential Guide to the Renowned Method–for Fitness and Self-Defense (Paperback)
    by David Kahn

    and/or

    * Advanced Krav Maga: The Next Level of Fitness and Self-Defense (Paperback)
    by David Kahn

    and/or

    * Complete Krav Maga: The Ultimate Guide to Over 230 Self-Defense and Combative Techniques (Paperback)
    by Darren Levine

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the feedback…it’s now on order.

Are there any books or courses describing the typical aerobic or strength training recommended to increase capabilities while training? Other than the usual stuff of course.

I’m thinking bodyweight training and a lot of intense (interval) aerobic stuff might be in order…eg; sprints

    Thanks again

As for books about conditioning, persons in the group I train with are big into this one by Richard Hatmaker:

Re: Best Video Series or Book Set?

i have both of david kahns books and the beginner book from darren levine. the advanced book by david kahn has some redundancy with the intro book. he basically reviews the info from 1st book then goes deeper. the intro book from mr levine is also very informative. i refer to all 3 frequently. mr kahn is affliated with a different krav organization and there are a few differences between some techniques

    Thanks Soldier & Tech94…

Appreciate the input. I’ll definitely add Kahn’s advanced book to the list and checkout those physical training resources listed.

Anyone have some advice on Video’s that are worth while? It seems one series has been temporarily taken off the market due to limited supply or updates…

Some great reviews on books and dvds here, Darren and David both have some great titles. but as previously mentioned you really need to be instructed face to face. books and dvd provide a lot of benefits but you will never master krav maga technique through media alone

Some Great Reviews here about books and dvd’s that are available.
As mentioned in an earlier post i wouldn’t rely solely on then. always best to use them in an addition to guidance from a qualified instructor. great to have a reference material for home training though.
