    Re: Comfortable Groin Protection

Speaking about cup protection..I always found that the typical ‘cup’ protected best where straight-on frontal impact was involved. An upward knee drove the cup into the bottom of my ‘jewels’ and really hurt.

I recently tried the ‘Nutty Buddy”

The design is different than the typical cup.The middle bottom of the cup extends down to better brace & spread out impact.
The plastic protector is not locked inside a pocket like typical protection wear.

It’s more comfortable to wear when trowing kicks.

I have been wearing a steel cup for years. I tried the new shock doctor composite, but went back the steel. It’s comfortable, I get full ROM and excellent protection. If you can get over the method in which you properly wear one, it’s a great way to go. Others I know have cut the strings a place it in a regular jock. Here’s the one I use. http://www.ndmartialarts.com/groinpotector.html

I’m thinking of trying the Nutty Buddy.

The big problem I have with the regular jock straps and compression shorts is the damn cup won’t stay in place so you are constantly readjusting.

Do you have any problems with that happening?

With the Nutty Buddy you wear compression shorts then you put a jock over it. The Nutty Buddy slips between. There is minimal movement. Vety comfortable to train in and it gives the protection.

    Re: Comfortable Groin Protection

Hey guys, just wanted to drop in and say thank you for the mention of our product, the NuttyBuddy, and the support I see in this forum. I believe this product is truly the best in the market for groin protection and I am glad to see that it has carried over into Krav Maga, Muay Thai, BJJ, etc. the entire MMA spectrum. If you have any questions about our cup, please feel free to e-mail or call me directly, I am happy to answer any questions you may have. Again, thank you for the support and I look forward to hearing from some of you soon.

Two thumbs up for the Nutty Butty.

I found my self pulling on my shorts all the time to adjust where they were so the Shock Docktor would ride comfortable.

The Nutty Butty stays in place even if the shorts slip around a bit. Takes a good impact too.

Those Shock Doctor compression shorts with the cup are great, but still pretty uncomfortable when you’re grappling. Then again, I don’t know if there is anything that will stay in place too well for that.

    J-

I only have experience with this Shock Doctor compression pant model, but one of the things I really like is that it also reduces the friction against my pants when I’m doing kicks, even when I’m soaking wet.

The compression pants are made from a synthetic material (nylon, I think) and are about the same size and shape and cycling shorts, i.e. they go down to just above your knees. The few times that I wasn’t wearing these compressions pants and just regular cotton underwear, when I broke sweat, my cotton pants and underpants welded together and it was really annoying to do kick, when you pants are being pulled in various directions along your thighs and groin.

I see a lot of guys and gals in class occasionally pulling their pants up their thighs when we’re doing kicks, I’m guessing it’s because they’re not wearing the same thing that I am wearing! 🙂

    Re: Comfortable Groin Protection

Yesterday was my first class on Chokes and I realized the need for protection.

I did some research and after reading and watching videos came to the conclusion that ‘Nutty Buddy’ was the way to go.

But right before hitting the ‘process’ button, I looked at the total and it was ‘$63’. $43 for the product with shorts and jock strap and $15 for shipping. That is way too high!

EBAY my friend. $10 for “XO” groin protector with compression shorts. Same shorts they charge $40 for at Sports Authority. I have them and they work great.

NO…I’m not selling them on EBAY

oo…I am sorry I miss understood you. I was talking about ‘Nutty Buddy’. That was coming out to sixty some dollars.

I have seen some other options that were less expensive. But the reviews on ‘Nutty Buddy’ were by far the best. Any ways thank you for your help!

    Ha! Reviews on cups! Awesome.

My review on my cup is that I’ve been kicked, slapped, punched hard numerous times and have had no damage.
