Slapped? I try to save that action for after I get home, but whatever. I wear the Duke cup w/briefs from wally-world, compression shorts over that, and I feel no pain. Stays put for BJJ class too!

unfortunately, the buddy didn’t work for me. I tried to make it work, but for some reason it just wasn’t a buddy to my nutty’s. primarily I had a problem during grappling, the cup kept coming out. it worked fine with stand up though…

I like mine. It worked pretty well. But I don’t have anything else to compare it with, since this was my first. I did notice though that it is a little bulkier than the ones I have seen online.

I just bought this. The Top Ten Groin Guard.
http://www.totiro-usa.com/TOP-TEN-Groin-Guard-and-Lower-Abdomen-Protector-p/tt-1064.htm
When it comes in and if I start training (wish they would open up a Krav Maga Center in the Eastern/Hollywood/Los Feliz part of Los Angeles) I will let you know what I think.
Expensive, but looks beautiful and the http://www.totiro-usa.com website talks about it glowingly.

I don’t wear a cup… but I sure sell the heck out of the compression short/cup combo from Shockdoctor. Its all Oneness wears, and we all know how I feel about groin kicks… so it must work! 🙂

Are cups something I should be considering even if I’m not sparring?
I recently started KM, but this was something that was not on my mind. I haven’t really seen a need for it in these first few classes, but we haven’t done any choke holds that have been mentioned previously in this thread.
What is the primary use that you guys seem to have of the cup during Krav?

We emphasize hard strikes to soft tissue on the body, and that includes hard groin strikes. We occasionally refer to a front-kick to the groin as the “Krav Maga Handshake,” which is why you hear everyone recommending you wear a cup regularly during training. It’s not a matter of “if” you’ll be kicked in the groin…it’s just a matter of “when.” 🙂

I agree with Oneness. I haven’t worn one in 8-9 years and I always feel comfortable. Made me learn to defend well and know I can take one if the need arises. I train and test with Kelly “Cup Crusher” Campbell so the argument that they aren’t kicking hard is moot. (I think she is up to 7 cracked cups as of this date.)
BTW – if they land one, realize you aren’t wearing a cup and you just keep coming it’s really demoralizing!!

I recently obtained an Easton boxer/brief with cup. Very comfortable. Wore it for 16 hrs straight at TKD camp and never knew it was there until it was called into service. Good protection as well.
The pouch is roomy enough to accommodate any cup, I use a “roomy” banana type cup.

Those used to sucking up groin punishment would probably have a good chance as a contestant on this game show:

So far, Shock Doctor in a jockstrap has worked very well for me, but always looking for something better.
Has anyone tried the SAW Spider cup?
Any thoughts on steel Thai cups?
