Note to self: If I ever seek counseling services for my inadequacy issues, make sure my counselor knows how to spell the word \”inadequacy\”…or at least knows how to employ spellcheck.

Man, am I a hypocrite. First I get on someone else for pointing out others’ issues, and then I start criticizing someone on my own.

Got me. Don’t worry though, you seem at least somewhat stable. Well, as stable as any other Krav Practitioner I have seen anyway. Funny reply though.

Thanks. I still don’t understand how someone else’s choice not to train at your studio based upon a number of factors equals cowardice.

I appreciate your point of veiw and having the ability to inquire with me about it as compared to putting it on a public forum in a manner of attack. Humbleness gets us much farther.

His inability to train under me was not what I made the judgement of cowardice under. Merely the inability to Discuss the question of the title \”Sensei\” first with me whom he had the problem with (at least by e-mail first for the simple fact he obviously stated he had it plus other contact info for me) as compared to feeling angst or whatever the heck is going on there, and displaying it on a public forum, in a manner of degradation without understanding and/or cause.

Silly how drama seems to rule people instead og the opposite.

I appreciate you wanting a clear understanding of what I meant, as compared to assuming the worst, and following through with the next uneducated , yet debateable issue.

Woops, missed the spell check again…LOL
    Have a good day
I have to go teach at my incredibly uncredible school with my lack of right to be called a title which was given by completely irresponsible and unknowledgeable teachers/ \”SENSEI’S\”, now.

    Hey BBBrian,

There, you’ve done it, now you’ve hurt my tiny, little feelings….. 😥 😆

Maybe that Randy Newman would like a taste of my #6 elbow, followed by a hook, followed by a groin kick… You get the picture. 😈 😈 😈

Well, he was checking to see if he had over-reacted, not trying to trash talk you on a message board. He was, in fact, getting a second opinion. The fact that most people agreed with him was the thing that may have come across as a personal attack.

Not at all. I would deffinetly understand how someone could assume that, but here’s the thing. I am probably one of the most open minded people you have ever met. Regardless of my religious background i have at many ties been called \”Zen Machine\” in a funny yet ironicly enough, matching characterization. In other words, I not only accept others oppinions, I also USUALLY appreciate them. It is only Thors approach I did not appreciate. The personal attacks on religous beliefs, titles, etc. Have some tact. Cultural and religious diversity is a pretty common factor in our society. I look forward to the day that people evolve to a point to where we realise it’s not really important to accept others veiws as our own, but to accept that people’s oppinions don’t have to match our own, to be able to get along. Long story short, he should have confronted the \”problamatic source\” (me) first, and derived his own oppinion, and if then it was still unsettled, then ask his peers (forum members), while doing so with tact as compared to how done previously, to help alleviate or confirm his oppinions. Questioning is fine. Can’t people just do it with respect as compared to questioning a person’s right to a given title and without assuming I am teaching bible study as compared to a front kick to a vertical target followed by two straights, an elbow and three knees? Thanks for your opinion and question though. They are deffinetly valid able ones.

    Thor…are you kidding?

I am trying very hard right now to contain my laughter…upon reading your post and how unbelievably shocked you were to find Bible quotes and a request to show respect to someone who has earned the title of Sensei, i immediately imagined you to be someone of great ambition and a sincere desire for furthering his skills, training, and knowledge in Krav Maga and possibly maritial arts. Before i mention the source of my surprise/laughter (see at end), to address your concerns, I find it extremely hard to believe that you were so hesitant to be asked to use Sensei where appropriate. I believe many if not most disciplines use the term to show respect to those who have gone before and have become learned in the skills/techniques specific to their disciplines. If it is such a problem for you, verify the source of the belt and/or experience of the instructor…there you will find if it is appropriate, or truly then something to complain about. Secondly, again, many if not most disciplines promote some semblance of spirituality or inner peace. In any case, Bible quotes as a signature, to me, shows a sincerity in relation to one’s own journey. If that is the only exposure to religion and no other remarks, requirements, or coersion is found, what a sad, sad reason for you to miss out on a potentially great Krav Maga experience of \”broadening your horizons.\” If these reasons are enough to sway you away from a new experience/possibility to grow, I hope you do not judge the entire world under such a microscope. Otherwise, you may just be limited to the scope of your life as an \”oversensitive\” \”international man of mystery\” with the ever-fulfilling hobbies \”Krav, internet, computers, and boobs.\” 😯

I, also, wonder why someone who has not been to the school to train would have such a strong opinion on the \”Sensei\” thing. I can say this for sure. I know Sensei better then anyone, or at least the Sensei we’re all speaking of here. I went with him to Georgia for the original training in Krav Maga and helped him when he was first setting up his school. He and I were once like brothers and I have had several personal conversations with him about students and other Dojo’s and instructors. I have also had the pleasure of training with him for about 5 years. He has taught me in several discliplines and allowed me on occasion to teach at his school. That being said I can say that I never expected anyone to call me Sensei (as an instructor) and I never heard him demand anyone call him Sensei. They can call him that, or Mr. L’Lonis or Sir. But I think he is too big a person (not just the 6’8\” physical person) to demand that from someone. I believe his skills and teaching ability speak for themselves. He always speaks well of other people or he does not speak at all. When I actually first heard and read the original post I thought that person was joking. I am not sure that I could say that many strong things about a place I have never been before. As far as the scripture that is on the wall, that was in reality a joint idea between the 2 of us. I do believe it was a srtonger idea on his part then mine, but a fellow practioneer had this verse tattooed on his ankle in Hebrew and I brought that up to Larry. It went from there. I personally see nothing wrong with it. Anyone who finds offense to it is probably someone who sees himself as a victum in society in general and needs to get over him or herself. I am kind of surprised that this much volume has been generated over something someone has said that has not even worked out there.

I would like to add this, to those who now know who I am and those who dont – I am not a Black Belt and probably would never really be good enough to be a Black Belt under Mr. L’Lonis, but what I learned has enhanced me and I have enjoyed being able to pratice what little of it I now can. I have enjoyed the people that I meet and am glad that I obtained the rank that I did. I will be unable to go for a Black Belt due to injury/surgery, but still work out every day with what I can. I believe that is the true essence of what Martial Arts is about. For one to learn from it and let it enchance your life.

I will see you around Larry. How about those twins in Georgia!

Thanks go to Andy, and the rest of you who know me. It’s great to have some of those who have the real deal insight as to who I am and what I am about, to respond in such a positive manner. Just a little FYI….Andy is more than good enough to be a black belt, but physically and character. Character is one thing that is judged heavily in the exams in my facility when it comes time for black belt. Technique alone is great if you want to promote the next back street brawler through the ranks, and teach him how to be a better thug. I am heavily involved with MMA and NHB, but am at the same time known as somewhat of a gentle giant in mentality. I’m proud of that and think the students who really know me are as well. That’ is what I like to promote…..people who can defend themselves by whatever means necessary, but at the same time will have the responsibility of how they will use their abilities.

    Thanks again guys,

There is another saying, \”There is no honor in defeating the weak\”.

$5 to anyone who can tell me who said that. I am also glad that others have backed Sensei L’Lonis. In all humality, I will train with the person who originally started all this. That is if you dont mind training with an old man who’s had surgery on his leg. I think honestly that you will see you have made a simple mistake in your conclusions as the Dojo is really a great place to go to learn and enjoy companionship. Whatever you end up doing, I wish you well and hope you enjoy the Dojo of your eventual choice.

    WOW

I leave this thread alone for a few days and all sorts of drama insert themselves.

OK, first, a fighter pilot, ANY fighter pilot is not a cowerd. As much crap as I flip eagle drivers, they put their life on the line every single day. You cannot be a fighter pilot and be a cowerd, trust me on this. (Regardless of which sled he/she drives….)

Second, Thor was simply asking a question, not personally attacking you. Get over yourself. Actually, I call all martial arts instructors Sensi unless they are teaching KM and only KM, unless I am told otherwise. But that is niether here nor there. The simple fact is KM doesn’t use the term Sensi and Thor asked a valid question.

Third…The quote on the email? Well, I have no issue with any religion so long as it isn’t forced on me. Knock yourself out tiger, but know also some people will be put off if you put religious quotes where they must read it. There is some good that will come from living by example, instead of making religious quotes…..

Fourth, you said something about having better things to do than lower yourself to such posts. I mean, all of us have nothing better to do on here than type, right????? Well, that is somewhat of an assault to all that do post on here but hey, that is your opinion. But, then, you have how many posts here now? Did your schedule suddenly open up??????

Giant, I STILL have bruises from your #6 elbow, so the short thing is mute to me……

    FFDO,
The first thing I will tell you is (believe it or not) thanks for your reply to the forum. You make a valid point when you say Thor was just asking a question. Keep in mind a previous statement. Thors oppinion does not bother me. Only the manner in which this was approached. To a public forum as compared to someone who could answer first hand every question thor could have about me, my school, and religious beliefs if he/she cared to ask…….. me. Do you see what I mean? You guys have absolutely no idea what I am about, and that includes if I \”live/lead by example\”, or not. Do you have the ability to totally understand me from even the great amount I have recently put on this forum? The obvious answer is, a very resounding no.

Just so you know, I COMPLETELYagree with you as far as the military thing is concerned. A little FYI. This is something most have no idea of with me. My Father is an ex Russian military defenseive tactics specialist. I have obvious reasons to respect the people who put their life on the line for me, regardless of their oppinions. At the same time, I will always stand up for my beliefs, WHILE AT THE SAME TIME, trying to keep others veiws in consideration. My veiws about Thor have nothing to do with his military terms or even a possilble lack thereof.

I guess I should appoligise for my use of words when I said you guys have nothing better to do than to be involved such melodramtic discussions on a forum. Maybe I should have said I have never found success in getting involved with discussions on forums that had more to do with melodrama than what they had to do with educational and beneficial aspetcs of growth as a human. My goal isn’t to satisfy the public, but at the same time, I have human responsiblities to respect evryone elses views and choices regardless if agree, follow, or detest them. But if I do have problem with them, It’s a garuantee I will approach them first. Not a public forum. If I am then unsatisfied by that person’s response and have questions he or she feels unable to answer, I would then approach a jury of my peers to help lead me in the right direction. Thor has never approached me with any of this.

Thanks again FFDO for your oppinion. Regardless if I agree with you or not, there is a learning experience o gain for everyone from the communications of and with others.

    Have a good evening folks.

PS hey La Revancha…. can you run a spell check on this for me. LOL
    Thanks again guys.
Please feel free to check out the same website Thor has, if you would like to understand more.
