Just saw the movie Zombieland this weekend (thumbs up, BTW), but with all of the gratuitous Zombie carnage, it got me wondering…. What’s your preferred Zombie blaster, and why? It’s getting on to Halloween, let’s have some seasonal fun.

    maybe something like this:

    thumbsup

Would we be talking about fast attack zombies (e.g. Dawn of the Dead 2004) or the more traditional slow shuffling type (e.g. DotD 1978)? Also, would we be worried about dealing only with the zombies or having to additionally deal with surviving in an infested or post cataclysmic world (hunting, fighting predatory humans, etc)?

Let’s go worst case scenario. The fast movers like I am Legend scare me the worst so we’ll use them as a baseline. Society has broken down with the survivors fighting for limited resources. Add in some of the shambling undead just because this is my post.

I’m thinking Noveske N4 in 5.56. Now I know some of you are thinking “the 5.56 isn’t enough…” and I feel ya’, but with society broken down and parts and ammo scarce, I’m going for parts and ammo commonality. In a perfect world, I’d have the Noveske in 6.8, but it’s not a perfect world…There’s frikken Zombies! Thoughts?

5.56 on a zombie? bah. What you don’t see used against zombies much these days is good ol’ fire. If were looking for materials salvaged from the wreckage that used to be society you gatta look at all the left over hair supplies (especially in L.A where you guys are) Gel, spray, mooses (is the plural mice?:dunno:)

Of course as soon as society crumbles all of us microwave user may forget how to make fire prett quick but there are endless possibilities for garden sprayer flamethrowers, supersoakers, flaming tennis balls (loved those when I was a kid…. no I’m not a pyro!) and of course the high pressure wasp killer spray that would do the job nicely.

The Noveske looks good, I must admit! However, my choices would be:

Albion Talhoffer as a last resort:

“Boopsie” as a next to last resort. An Argentine Sistema in 45 ACP I’ve rebuilt.

and “Anything I can find lots of ammo for” as a primary. Lever actions in 30-30 are just as good at 100 yards as them mouser guns. Since my eyes aren’t good, 100 yards is about all I have to worry about. 😉

Guys, what’s with the swords? That zombie blood can infect you, get some stand-off. Edged weapons are totally last resort.

Coda, you my friend are a sick man. I like the fire idea…. Could be a little difficult to manage. I’m not totally sold, but I like it.

Leam, I like the .30-.30 idea …. Lots of punch out to 150 or so, flat, easy to pack and quick to shoulder. Best of all, it brings a little classic American old school ass kicking to the party.

Come on guys, I know there’s more zombie blasting goodness out there.

Who said anything about Zombies? We run out of ammo I just need to hamstring you and make my getaway. rofl2

True enough, but you’d have to get across the moat first.

I’d be happy with a cut down Benelli auto loader. Head shots FTW

or SuperSoaker with liquid accelerant and a box of strike anywhere’s

Theres also something satisfying about a shovel, cause you want that squishy melon sound which ya just can’t get from automatic gun fire.

A regular shovel or the Cold Steel Spetznaz shovel?

This one would work well (as long as you had fuel for your plane):

we all must be ready for the hordes of the shambling undead that will plague our streets! who stands with me ready to defend our way of life!
who other than us to protect our children from the brain eating undead! we as americans have a right… NO a duty to protect our familys from these deasese ridden corpses that will do us harm(by now the patriotic music is playing in the background as i give my rambling speach to motivate the peoplethumbsup) i for one wont let these “THINGS” destroy our way of life! the only thing we have to fear are zombies themselves (unless they have body armor then we are pretty much screwed:dunno:)

RE: swords – what can I say, I like sharp things.. :abx::wav:

And definitely, my sword wouldn’t be a primary choice… thumbsup

5.56/.223 makes a lot of sense to me. I think I would be happy with an “accurized” Mini-14 w/ 30 round mags, 92FS, and a sword. If I had the luxury of a car/truck/suv, then I’d also like a Springfield Armory M1A, a semi-auto shotgun (preferably one that could chamber Aguila mini-slugs), a 92FS compatible CX4, and maybe a Ruger 10-22 plinker.

    Re: Zombie Blasters

Apparently these guys just kept coming, like a zombie horde, stepping over the bodies of their fallen ‘comrades’ – much to the horror of the officers involved:

    The news story in English:

9mm not too effective against zombies apparently…
