On June 27-28, 2014, students of Krav Maga Worldwide and its affiliates across the nation and beyond our borders came to Camp Courage in Brea, CA to participate in a two-day exclusive event that tested their will, strength, courage, and wilderness survival skills at the third annual Krav vs. Wild Wilderness Survival Camp.
Krav vs. Wild is a unique program that takes the gym outdoors, intersecting self-defense techniques learned in a training center with real-world survival skills and tactics. At Krav vs. Wild students practiced the techniques taught on the mat in a non-permissive environment and broadened their training to include survival shelter building, foraging, fire craft, land navigation, archery and tomahawk marksmanship, shooting, climbing, improvised weapon development, and the essentials of teamwork, in a reality-based setting. Students from every level of Krav Maga are invited and challenged as they participated in multiple on-site training sessions, all taught by a panel of expert instructors with decades of experience in Krav Maga, law enforcement, and the military. It is the instructors that made this weekend such an incredible event, devoting two days of sharing their knowledge and training with Krav Maga students that would otherwise never have the opportunity to learn from a collective of instructors with such depth of experience. The participants were from all walks of life and from training centers near and far, and each pushed themselves far beyond the conventional limits found within a gym. They trained in the dirt, conducted night missions to gather intelligence and eliminate threats, took part in all the survival-training sessions, and ended the two-day event with a team adventure race that incorporated much of what they learned over the previous 24 hours. There are no other self-defense studios with a Force Training division like that of Krav Maga Worldwide that can provide a member-appreciation seminar like Krav vs. Wild.
Congratulations to all the participants and teams!
