We’ll be the first to tell you that Krav Maga is for everyone. A true self-defense workout can be life-changing, not to mention life-saving, and our community welcomes students of all skill levels who want to learn. Still, some new arrivals are a little more momentous than others, and this week we had a new student who we’d never expect to see come through our doors: KTLA News!
KTLA Joins Krav Maga
As the buzz for our seminar aboard the U.S.S. Iowa grew, local media such as Dish Nation and radio statio HOT 92.3 began to take interest. We even got a shout-out on 92.3 the day of the event, which we were more than thrilled about. But when we heard KTLA would be doing a piece on Krav Maga Worldwide, and would even be kind enough to plug our event aboard the Iowa, we almost couldn’t believe it! We’re delighted by the buzz our business is getting and only want to keep working harder to earn it.
We won’t lie, there was some mutual trepidation when KTLA’s crew came down our studio. No one wants to worry about wrecking the camera crew’s equipment when they’re in the middle of a self-defense workout, right? But KTLA’s crew was a pleasure to have in our space. We could tell our guests were eager to see what we do at Krav Maga Worldwide, so we didn’t make them wait for a demonstration. All we needed was a volunteer.
Kacey Montoya Puts Theory into Practice
We have to commend KTLA reporter Kacey Montoya on this one. Not only did she have to deliver the story on the air, she stepped up and took a crash course in Krav Maga self-defense with us, right there in front of her camera crew. Montoya’s reporter instincts served her well, though, as her focus and attention to detail made her a fast learner during her self-defense workout. Would you be shocked to hear we had her taking down assailants with her eyes closed after only a few lessons? If you don’t believe it, see for yourself.
The U.S.S. Iowa
We were also very excited to have KTLA showing support for our self-defense workout and seminar aboard the U.S.S. Iowa. After opening that event last month to the public, we saw an absolutely fantastic turnout and we know we owe at least part of that to our friends at KTLA news.
We’d like to thank everyone from KTLA who came and joined us at our West LA location. We know we had a blast, and we hope anyone who caught the show at home was inspired to look into learning Krav Maga self-defense. If you’d like to learn how to prepare yourself for any situation, are looking for a new community workout, or want to expand your martial arts vocabulary, we hope you check out KMW and give us a try.
