Re: Why the hate on Krav by MMA people?

Krav Maga is a practical based system that is relatively simple to learn but highly effective. You can use one defense for several attacks. For example, handgun defense from the front, multiple levels and the threat using one or two hands. MMA is no joke either, They are in great shape and technicly proficient with tons of moves and techniques. That is some of the problem with MMA, It takes a long time to become preficient and not lock up in the thinking process, especially under deadly stress. With KM, when in doubt, kick them in the nuts, when in doubt hit them in the face, when in doubt put both thumbs in there eyes ect. As some of the posts eluded to MMA still is a sport. If you did them for real on each other, KM would come out on top. If you tap out in KM that means you are dead. Not an option.

    Respectfully submitted,

    Re: Injuries

I would at least check it out with the Doc. If it heals wrong, you might need to re break it and that will put you even further behind in your Krav journey. Do it right the first time and it should heal stronger (calcium deposits) than the original. Good luck thumbsup

    Re: Second Amendment Defense

My son started out with the standard BB gun, .22 ect, however, by the age of 8 he was shooting my duty weapon. It’s all about education and familiarization and respect of whatever weapon system you use. It takes the excitement and wonder out of it all. He is 21yo now and I feel sorry for the group conducting a home invasion into his or my home.

policynutz: A (MA political science) is very respectful, however, you might want to talk to a few history major’s about the reason our 2nd amendment right is so important to us. No matter how accecable, no matter what we would do, the bad guys will always have access to guns. That’s why they are called bad guys. I don’t want my brothers and sisters in arms to be soft targets. So one may walk in peace.

    Respectfuly,

Re: Teaching my first KM class

    thanks again Kirsten,
We only have 13 weeks to get 650 staff through the training:OhMy:. We teach twice a week on Mondays and Fridays. We have about 25 students per class. Because we only have 3 Force Training Instructors with seven other traditional DT Instructors helping out. Captain Bell has said we need more Instructors, so I think we will be sending some more officers your direction…in the mean time we will have time to heal on the 14th week….rofl2

Thanks again for all your help,

    Dan.

Re: Hello from Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho

Greg Lance did work for CPD. I also had a Deputy from Kooteani County Sheriff’s Department in my class. I will rummage around and dig up my old academy picture. I can’t remember his name. I also had several officers from up North. Lewiston, Moscow, Post Falls. I will get the picture.. and get back with you on this. Regardless, keep training and be safe.

Re: Hello from Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho

How long ago did you go to the Academy? What was your graduation number? I graduated in 1995. My class was the first 10 week Academy at Meridian. Before that they had the Academy in down town Boise and it was a 7 week Academy. I know every one at Payette County SO. I will give a shout to who ever you know. BTW, I knew a guy from Coeur d’Alene, his name was Greg Lance. Do you know him or was that before your time?
