I use an inversion table also.Take a minute to go the inverted state slowly or it can put an uncomfortable amount of pressure build in your sinuses.I wrap a towel around my ankles since your body weight will be hanging from that area.

Congratulations! When I took & passed my level one test,I threw my back out & had to spend a half hour on my back at the edge of the mat before I could get changed & drive home.

Remember, when you get old,you gain the advantage of additional reach.
You can lean out & whack him on the head with your cane. 🙂

Do you have a pool available?wEaring a flotation belt allows you to walk/run in place while floating in the deeper section of the pool.If in injury recovery, you’ll avoid joint stress & burn calories.

Get the Krav DVD’s & do some practice sessions at home when you can.Does your school print a syllabus showing what techniques will be taught for each week?Bring those up from your DVD.

Sparing is important but Mandatory Full contact sparring with full force groin & head strikes should be optional.Today’s concerns over concussion in football spill over into martial arts.
One or two full hits to the groin, even with a cup are enough for me.If this were to occur on a daily basis, the class size for most schools would slowly …dwindle ….to……..nothing.

Re: Regarding Chronic Head Injury, Sparring and Krav Maga

I never had 100% punching to the face, even when I sparred later (outside of regular class-time.

    BTW
If there is major concern, aren’t there ‘soft’ sparring head gear you could wear during class, after telling your instructor why you brought it?

Re: Body falling apart and two weeks to test!

    quote CJs Dad:

I’m a strong proponent of jumping/skipping rope. Go at your own pace while you acclimate but the faster you go the better work your doing. Sounds easy right? LOL LMK how it works out.

    .

The important thing is to recite the proper mantra as you just rope

    ………”Firecracker,Firecracker,..Boom,Boom,Boom….”

    Re: Test without carbs

There are a number of complex carbs that you may be able to use:

Carbohydrates are organic compounds in tissues or food that can be broken down to be one of the main sources of energy for humans or animals. Classified as simple or complex, carbohydrates are mainly starches and sugars.

Simple carbohydrates consist of only one or two sugars and include foods such as white flour and fructose.
Complex carbohydrates consist of three or more sugars and they are fiber-rich.
    Common Complex Carbohydrates
    Dairy

    Low fat yogurt
    Skim milk
    Nuts, Seeds and Legumes

    Lentils
    Kidney beans
    Chick peas
    Split peas
    Soy beans
    Pinto beans
    Soymilk
    Whole Grain Breads and Pastas

Breads and pastas made with the whole grains listed below provide more fiber resulting in feeling full sooner, and longer.
    Whole Grains

    Buckwheat
    Brown rice
    Corn
    Wheat
    Barley
    Oats
    Sorghum
    Quinoa
    Fruits and Vegetables

    Potatoes
    Tomatoes
    Onions
    Okra
    Dill pickles
    Carrots
    Yams
    Strawberries
    Peas

    Consuming Complex Carbohydrates
Consuming carbohydrates is important to ensuring the body has what it needs to operate at peak performance.

Here are some examples of the reasons to consume complex carbohydrates rather than their simple counterparts:

Keep the body fueled for an extended period of time

Re: Carrying a concealed weapon vs. Self Defense

    quote Leftie79:

What do you think of people carrying a concealed weapon vs. learning self defense such as KM?

Why the word “vs” instead of “&”

There way be situations where there is no time to deploy a weapon.
Your self defense training amy allow you to create distance so that you can more readily retreive you weapon if you can’t ‘leave the area’.

    Re: Why punch with knuckles?

    quote MadDogMean:

…… But a knuckle-based strike would need to be used in a hook or uppercut.

    .

No problem with doing a ‘bitch-slap’ as a hook option
