judging a mans ability as an instructor in his youth based on a video filmed when he is in his late 40s/50s is kind of lame.
Boaz was very well qualified for his position as Chief Krav Maga instructor for the IDF as he was hand picked by Eli Avikzar to replace him in that position and Eli was hand picked by Imi to replace himself.
He has trained hundreds if not thousands of IDF soldiers in Krav Maga and is in the first Krav Maga book ever written(Fighting Fit).
His technical knowledge is sound but whether he can perform at the same athletic level at this point in his life is neither here nor there and is irrelevant and less important than the historical and technical knowledge he presents in the book.
There are so few books on KM and only two that are written by Israelis who were there in the early days of the system. Everyone should have them.September 2, 2010 at 7:43 pm #80996kevin-mackMemberRe: Front kick pivoting
but my point was that when you land forward your hip opens up more and the pivot becomes easier. When beginners concentrate on bringing the foot back they dont open the hip and pivot.By staying on your toes and kicking and landing forward the pivot becomes much easier.Try this for awhile and then go back to bringing the leg back.

stop bringing the leg back. Land forward. Sometimes when beginners worry about getting the leg back they tend to sacrifice the extension of the kick and the opening of the hip. Kick forward with pivot…land forward..follow up with a punch with the same hand that you kicked….keep attacking. Thats retzev.

the traditional way of ranking in Krav Maga was that you were allowed to promote up to two levels below your own. So for someone to promote you to Black Belt he would have to be a 3rd degree Black Belt himself or higher.

The green belt thing was posted not as an insult but to make the point that what he was trained to teach at that point was basic KM civilian self defense. I am talking about the begining. That doesnt mean he he wasnt qualified at a later date.
My instructor came back from the same course with the same rank at the same time so I have no reason to use that as an insult and wouldnt.November 23, 2009 at 12:45 am #79045kevin-mackMemberRe: False Instructor
and it was my understanding that it was really the Israeli instructors such as Eyal and Eli Avikzar, and David Ben-Asher who started the LE training in the US but assisted by Darren and Chiropractor Dan.

if you read his bio/historical timeline on this site and Eyals bio. The teaching of KM to LE didnt start till 1987. Secondly he only came back from Israel as a green belt.
