    Re: bio flex cup questions

Two years with the Nutty Buddy has left me very comfortable and so far so good on the rare hits to the groin.
However, I’ve nothing to compare it to as it’s the only cup I’ve used since getting into Krav…

Re: What did you do in Krav Maga class today?

In Level one we reviewed some basic cross jab and front kick and then incorporated that to knife defense (after controlling the knife).
But a great quote from our head instructor Pete G. “If his knees had testicals I’d kick him there”

    Re: Left Hook Punch

One thing I have not read here is to relax…The more tense you make your muscles the less likely you’ll be able to get everything out of them from strength to coordination. One thing Kristen said was to take it slow at first, that can help with relaxing your muscles (especially think your shoulder/traps/etc they can easily get in the way of moving your weapon (fist) at optimal speed).
It’s very easy to forget how tense you make yourself when the adrenaline is rushing, try to consciously think about it when you are practicing all of your punches.

Re: Sparing Chest Piece blah V.S blah 2

Yeah I’m not a small guy, but even with the tombstone I’ve take some cross punches that just feel like the next one is going to go through my chest!!! Knees from some folks that have near perfect technique can hurt like hell too if you forget to push the tombstone down a touch just before impact!!!

Re: Help, My knee’s don’t like the exercise

Those that mentioned the pain after running (Inky this may help more then the WD-40, but i like that idea!!!), try looking at your running method/style. Check out this web site, my crossfit trainer had me look into this and with his help i was able to run the Army 10 Miler last year with out killing my self or my knees!!

I gotta believe Coda Vex had the best idea with the flame throwers…assuming you can keep it “loaded”.

Ok, with a smile on my face I’ll stir the pot back just for fun!

    Re: Punching wrong…

Thanx Phil! I can’t make it today for personal reasons but I should be there Monday. I’ll ask the instructor. I have been using wraps, and have not had trouble since like maybe the first month I was doing Krav…I think I just altered my punch some how in a bad way and now it’s in muscle memory…trouble is I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong!
But I’m sure one of you guys can get me punching right on Monday!!

Re: Weight training for Krav Maga

I have to also throw in my vote for Crossfit. Really gives a great mix of both endurance and strength training.

Re: "Training is great and all, but useless in a real life situation"

Well, this isn’t a suggestion of MA, Krav or self defense but if you want to humble him, don’t wait till his schedule works, just have him do a nice fun crossfit work out!! I’m sure Garddawg could recommend a nice first time crossfit that will let him know the true joy of it…

    Re: increasing cardio

It’s all ready been said but I didn’t see the website so:
    http://www.crossfit.com
They make it really easy to follow, give you the work out of the day, and even have scaled back work outs on the message board daily to get you started with out killing yourself…it works!!!

    Re: KM Bootcamp

I subscribe to their service to view the videos. I think they are pretty decent. I have the original Revgear 5 DVD set and one thing I found was they did not go through the mechanics of the choke from behind.
The bootcamp website has a pretty good demo of this.
I found it to be pretty useful!!

    Re: Knife disarm… then what?

One thing I’d like to add to the situation where you remove a gun from an assailant…
You certainly should treat any gun as if it is loaded…but remember you do not know anything about that gun. One of our instructors pointed out that you may just be holding a paper weight. I would not rely on that gun, get yourself to safety in case the assailant does have another weapon.

    Re: Choke?

I also find that if I am envisioning that my hands are unstoppable and able to come completely down a huge help. If you allow yourself to only thing of plucking and your hands stopping there…then your hands will stop there. The mind is really easily taken by the suggestion of stopping, but if you can believe and envision them not stopping, then I think you may find more success even with a larger/stronger attacker.
Practice when you can and make sure you hear your hands hitting your chest.
