    Re: Scrapbooking…Seriously???

I completely know what you mean, Erica! Wrapping gifts with a cat in the house is the one of the more challenging coordination tests. Just wait for Christmas with your lil’ Max & Mara!!

I was glad everyone ate some of the cake the other day. I can only imagine what the result would have been if I’d taken it home —> (There’s no smiley for a person who’s nauseous from eating too much cake, so just imagine one right here): ___.

    quote saruotoko:

Oh, and Mara….I made sure she saw how delicious the cake looked before she opened the gift, just in case I was within her striking distance and she failed to see the ‘humor’ in the scrapbooking kit. 😉

Right! So I’d see it was such a beautiful work of pastry perfection, that I’d refrain from smashing it in your face!!! LOL!! (kidding, Mario)

And by the way, it was great for breakfast this morning! Ugh…now I’m gonna have to take Jarret’s bag class tonight to work it off.

    One word: CROYGEL.

Google it for purchase from the manufacturer.

And last, watch the regular dosing on Motrin. It can prove to be bad for the liver.

Re: Anybody Know anything about Mona Vie?

It’s the latest “Amway” or “Herbal Life” business scam. Heh, heh, heh…I’m kidding. I’m really not knocking the stuff. I admit that I drank it for a while thanks to a work friend who peddled it. During the time I was doing daily shots of it, I noticed that a lot of people commented about my skin looking really good, which was nice to hear. But I’m fairly certain that you can get the same health benefits from getting the same vitamins and nutrition from eating a healthy, balanced diet. Age old wisdom once again…Big surprise, huh?

    [SIZE=”2″]Oh yeah??? How about these:

A man’s got to do what a man’s got to do. A woman must do what he can’t.

Behind every successful man is a surprised woman.

You see a lot of smart guys with dumb women, but you hardly ever see a smart woman with a dumb guy.

Re: Best way to get up from the ground?

Thanks! I’m just glad to try and be of some help to some one out there every once in a while. ;):

I just checked Youtube ‘cuz there are a number of helpful videos on the site by Jarret Waldman (black belt instr. from KMWW S.O.) in which he demonstrates various self defense techniques… but there aren’t any for gettin’ up from the ground.

Regardless, it sounds like you’ll get the hang of it soon enough … go get ’em.

Re: Best way to get up from the ground?

Have you already asked your instructor when you’re not in class about your concerns/questions re: whether you’re doing the technique to get up from the ground (either from your back or from your side) correctly? Or asked for an explanation or clarification on what to do differently? I gotta think that’s going to yield the best results for you. Hopefully so… please let us know.

Although.. remember that stress drills serve the very important purpose of letting you see how you perform the technique under conditions of attack and outside of doing straight, repetitive training. As such, you’re likely not going to do it 100% correctly all the time and you will experience getting hit/kicked/screwing up, etc. I beleive the statistic is if you’re even 80% technically correct while training in class, on the street in a real situation on your BEST day you’ll perform at 60%.

So, talk to your instructor… and don’t beat yourself up for making mistakes during drills. Work on getting the techniques down as best as you can, and more importantly, learning what to do and how you react when you do mess up during drills.

The key is to NEVER STOP and NEVER GIVE UP in those moments. IMHO, that’s where you learn the most you need to know.

    Re: How Was Summer Camp?!

    Thanks, Sean. :D:

I asked La Rev, “Why the fingers behind my head?”

His answer: “Now you match your avatar.”

    Re: wieght and krav

    quote Jeremy Stafford:

One of the great things about Krav is that it is scaleable. Obviously you would have to start slow and work at your own pace, but within a very short period of time, the weight would start to come off and your body would start to adapt. Just be careful in regards to your knees and back until you start to get used to the rigors of class.

    Good Luck!

Cshuler, this advice is right on target! I would only add that, as with any new exercise program and given your expressed concerns, you might want to see your doctor first, let her/him know the type of training you intend to do and see what she/he says.

In addition to the mental and physical challenge and aches/pains/soreness and possibly a few bumps and bruises you’ll experience from training, I will also tell ya that you will likely be very pleased with the results that show in your body from training.

Best of luck ~ and enjoy!! thumbsup

Re: Summer Camp – The airplane was amazing!!!!

    quote Bracius:

Great movie….not for the naked men of course. Just the endless one liners

Actually, I think I overheard this coming from the cockpit today:
    ————————————————————————-
Joey: Wait a minute. I know you. You’re Kareem Abdul-Jabar. You play basketball for the Los Angeles Lakers. I think you’re the greatest, but my dad says you don’t work hard enough on defense. And he says that lots of times, you don’t even run down court. And that you don’t really try… except during the playoffs.

Roger Murdock: The hell I don’t! LISTEN KID. I’ve been hearing that crap ever since I was at UCLA. I’m out there busting my buns every night. Tell your old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes.
    ———————————————————————–

In all seriousness, I don’t want to take up space in this thread with silliness, when today’s training was so important, so relevant, and so TOTALLY FREAKIN’ AWESOME!!! I spent the rest of the day in really heavy thought about everything that Darren and Jon Pascal taught today. I hope those of you who trained will post your thoughts and impressions b/c I’m sure I’m not the only one who wants to hear them…

    C’mon guys… post!!!

Re: Level one test last night

First, don’t be so hard on yourself. PLENTY of people don’t pass their first level one test – and I’m not just saying that to give you a false “cheer up chat”.

Yes, definitely talk to your instructor. Listen first, and try to keep an open mind and really hear what he or she has to say about your performance. I don’t want to give qualitative comments without knowing more, but most likely if you truly believed you performed well, you’ll find out what prevented a passing score and nail it next time.

And please…don’t kick the kitty cat!

Jack & Coke’ll do just fine.

Re: Real Life Gun Scenario – help!!

Wow, L.R., that scenario is frightening. Great question to pose to the KM community. I tend to agree with you. I think I’d rather get shot trying to run away than risk suffering worse scenarios if abducted.

I really hope that some of our L/E or military members will share their ideas on what the best options would be in a situation like that.

I think this is another example of how important it is to think about those things ahead of time because of the tendency (likelihood?) to freeze in the moment.

Thanks again, L.R. – Great post!

Oh and left elbow tendon from an over zealous kimura awarded me by a forum member who shall remain nameless. Worth it just to see the look on Staffords face as he screamed “he’s tapping!!!”

That’s horrible! Whoever that person is, you should definitely exact some revenge from her – uh, I mean him!!! rofl2
