What about a storage closet? I’m L2 and would love to do it too 😀

Your post made me think of a related issue: if you’re trapped in a confined space with an assailant with no immediate escape in sight (e.g., in a jammed elevator), would you rather try to do minimal damage and just keep knocking him out if he comes to (and exposing yourself to more danger especially if you’re already hurt), or do more serious damage to him from the start? I know it brings us back to the legal standard of what a reasonable person would do in that situation, but just curious what people out there think.

A lesser anecdote along the lines of markx3’s: one time I fell off my bed half-asleep and, amazingly, went straight to the chin tuck and slapped, managing to catch myself between the wall/bed and saving my head a lovely knock.

In general, I imagine that if the fall is quick and hard it’s probably best (and instinctive) to slap but if it’s softer and you have time to shift the weight to the rest of your body, you’re back in groundfighting position a split second sooner. As a student I like practising both; I think that in a pinch the final analysis will be highly dictated by your circumstances (like everything else in Krav) and it’s useful to be sufficiently familiar with both to make the most intelligent decision possible.

Damn, she did say it all, but it’s true. KMDC really glows in the dark.

I never got anything about sports culture (don’t watch it, don’t understand it, don’t like rules, never saw a cute uniform – nobody take offense please! I’m just a restless girl who couldn’t open pasta jars) so that’s why I love Krav. Honestly, I was attracted by the eclectic philosophy (at least as compared to those of conventional sports) and the extraordinary circumstances it sprung from. Now, I love the imaginative/practical aspect of reality-based, \”anything goes\” situational awareness alongside the development of concrete technical skills and mental fortitude. I love the accelerated learning curve, the possibilities and random unknowns of practical application, coming up against all kinds of shapes, sizes, and minds, and knowing that the ultimate aim isn’t the blue ribbon at a dog-and-pony show. Oh, almost forgot about the belt test there… yeah, I love the belt test too. Seriously. My instructors rock.

It’s also fascinating to mention Krav when I’m on a date. Either they want to attack me with a steak knife or they start driving faster.
