Re: My diet for the next 3 months
Well, the 2 servings of rice are coming towards the end of the day. They’re quick carbs and will surely not help you lose weight. They will spike your blood sugar and make you rebound hungry. Have these carbs earlier in the day when you’re more likely to burn them off, or just before Krav Maga class. Soy protein mimics estrogen in the body and can also be detrimental to weightloss and inc cancer risks. Whey protein, though dairy based, is best source.

“The attacker is looking for a victim, not an opponent”
Truth right here. They want it quick and painless to them. They have no desire to stay and fight youAugust 18, 2014 at 2:56 am #89087tech94MemberRe: Post Workout Supplements
Glutamine is your friend as well. It’s an amino acid and is incredible for helping with wound healing and muscle recovery. We use it in the surgical icu to help our patients with wound healing

I have trained in and am certified as an instructor in jkd concepts under Vunaks camp. The biggest weakness I found with that style was a lack of scenario based training and too much focus on things that I grew to realize weren’t very realistic. Energy drills and flows and trapping techniques work well in training but didn’t seem like something I’d even attempt during a real self defense situation. Knife on knife training seemed useless to me, since I don’t carry a knife and didn’t seem like something that would be common in a NYC suburb. I do like the defanging the snake concepts though. I like the simple concepts of RAT and closing in and using knees and elbows on the inside. I also did two rotations in Haganah FIGHT when I lived in Florida. Concepts very similar to KM for obvious reasons. Some forum members aren’t fans of MLK and his possible marketing scheme and lies about his military career, but his concepts and techniques were pretty sound. I particularly liked the idea of training in rotations and being exposed to the entire curriculum in about 4 months. For the average person training this exposure to the entire curriculum might be of great value since they wouldn’t have to dedicate years of training to feel safer. False sense of security can’t be ruled out though if they don’t practice the perishable skills. I have trained in BJJ as well and find it a great sport and great cardio workout, but would personally never use it or train it for street defense. I train in what equates to counter grappling now. I don’t want to spend 20 trying for an arm bar or choke etc, I want to be able to counter those techniques though and that’s my grappling focus. I have also trained in SPEAR and crossfit defense and find the outside 90 concept as well as the precontact cues to be of greater value than most other MA I have trained in since I was 12

Keeping him at a distance is the best thing I can think of too. Maybe keep him at bay with kicks. A slash to lower leg is better than an arterial slash higher up the thigh. Using the back pack as a Sheild is also a great idea. All in all, not easy defense.

Some of the videos show some techniques that are definitely Krav Maga. Some are a little less KM and more Asian arts inspired. The weapons defenses seem sound except for that jumping front kick against knife in one video. I did see 360 defense in another. Seems like a hybrid style with KM mixed in. Saw some judo influences (more so than what I’ve seen in other KM schools) as far as I know Yaron Lichtenstein is legit and some of those instructors apparently hold diplomas from Wingate institute as well so that lends credibility if true

Looks more closely related to the Keysi Fighting System based on this video alone. Hard to tell if they are “good” or “bad” based solely on a video on YouTube though

Not sure how good a move it was actually. He never stepped, bladed or created a firm, stable base. Could’ve been easily knocked down had the dude running towards him had intent and power.

Well, sometimes one must defend themselves against the entire Relublican National Convention, but in this instance RNC means Rear Naked Choke. It’s a choke commonly seen in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and mixed martial arts competitions. As those sports have gained popularity so have the possibilities that an assailant may try to use them. Therefore, we must be prepared to defend again them.

Rick, the $180 is unlimited. They offer classes 6days per week.

NYC and Long Island area costs vary, but are generally in the $180-250/month range. I pay 180, which is pretty steep frankly. I understand it’s a business and the owner has to eat, but I think retention would be much higher at a lower cost.

My instructor, and I’m sure many more, hold certifications from KMW as well as KMA. I think Donavin Britt holds or held certification from 2 or 3 also

Double strike, I agree. Don’t wanna live my life paranoid or suspicious of everyone that passes me by. Just see this as a pretty bad ambush type of attack.

Had my LASIK done in January of ’06. Never regret it and hasn’t ever been an issue for me. I’m a critical care nurse in a trauma icu. Have never had a traumatic head injury patient that had LASIK that suffered any additional issues as a result of the LASIK. I started training in ’07 so my eyes had time to heal.
