Just gym shorts and a t-shirt. Would be kinda funny to see someone take a class in full dress attire.

I’m 24, turning 25 next month. I’m really glad that I took up Krav Maga, it finally gave me a reason to quit smoking (those warm-ups are killer) 🙂

I know exactly what you’re talking about. I was a little worried at my first class. The warm up def. kicked my butt.(i’ve been an avid smoker for about 8 years) Only reason why I was worried was b/c I was so out of breath after the warm up, I had a hard time paying attention to the instructor b/c I had my hands on my knees for about 5-10 mins trying to catch my breath, but I stuck through it. I’ve been blessed with my family history of not having high blood plessure or any kind of serious health concerns.
During the week when i’m not training I usually lift weights. But recently I’ve back down on the lifting and focused more on cardio to help with my KM classes. 10 mins on the bike, and about 15-30 on the treadmill to help build my stamina back up. Doing small things like this will help ten fold. My 2nd class (which was yesterday) was A LOT BETTER. Doing some-sort of cardio during the week really helped. Now don’t get me wrong, I was still out of breath, but I recovered a lot quicker, so I could devote my full attention to my instructor. And I quit smoking too (HURRAY FOR ME haha) which i’m sure is coming into account. But from everyone else is saying, going to a doctor sounds like a MUST THING TO DO before you go to another class. Hope all is well, and stick with it. If it was easy, everyone would take Krav Maga 😀

Hi Brandon and welcome to the site and Krav Maga! I’ve only taken two classes since I signed up last week and i’m frickin’ hooked!!! You’ll really have a lot fun, get in shape, and learn some important/usefull techniques in Krav Maga. I recently just quit smoking BECAUSE of Krav Maga. My ass was doggin’ the first class that I took, and I knew if I quit it would make my experience that much better (Plus all the health benifits) Just keep your head in it and expect to have a lot of fun while getting your butt kicked 🙂

Thanks for the welcome. Yesterday was my first class. Phew!! I never knew I would have so much fun having my butt kicked haha. The warm-up was intense, but fun in the same way. Evan was our instructor and I can really tell he’ll be a blast to learn from. A lot of energy and easy to work with. We learned front 2-handed choke defense which seems very effective in real world situations. All-in-all, I was hooked after yesterday. Everyone seemed very friendly and informative while I was there. Can’t wait for my 2nd class 🙂
quote mikwrigh:Welcome aboard, George. You’ve made an excellent choice investing in Krav. I imagine in light of your situation overseas that your training will be quite effective, as the mindset of real-world application is a big plus towards focus. I hope you enjoy the workout and are able to reap the rewards of learning self defense while having a blast. See you at Owings Mills.

quote Medic1:Hello! :wav: I’m new to this and have not learned very much at all about Krav Maga. I would really like to get into it and use this as my normal workout and help when deployed in a combat zone.Welcome and congrats on joining! Also, wish to thank you for what you’re doing for our country. I was in the Navy for 4 years. I was a CB then eventually went into EOD. If you think you’ll be deployed overseas to the sandbox, i think Krav Maga would be perfect. I have my first class tomorrow and I’m really excited. Have fun and stay safe! I salute you Sir!

Yea, it was def. an eye opener! Even if I knew some sort of self defense, I probably would of gave him the money anyway. Who knows if he had a gun, plus there was two of them. My life wasn’t worth risking over 100 euro haha.
Yes, I’ve heard very good things about the Columbia/OM locations. Should be a lot of fun and informative. I’ve always been looking for a no bs type of self defense, and Krav Maga seems like exactly that. Not flashy, but extrememly effective in real world situations. -
