It has been nine years since my beloved wife, Marni, died of breast cancer at the age of 37, leaving behind our two daughters, Jordyn Rose and Brooke Eryn, her family and innumerable loving friends and admirers. Although we still feel an acute loss, there is also a sense of great comfort knowing that through STOP CANCER’s designation of The Marni Fund, groundbreaking women’s cancer research is being funded to develop improved treatments, new diagnostic procedures and the ultimate goal – A CURE.
As co-founder of the United States Association of Krav Maga, the official Israeli Self-Defense system used by U.S. law enforcement agencies and others worldwide, Marni was a fighter who never believed in giving up. Marni was known internationally as a woman devoted to helping other women protect themselves. To that end, we are reaching out to you for your continued support to keep her indomitable spirit alive. Her final wish was to use her battle with cancer as an impetus to help others and find a cure for this horrific disease.
Following Marni's death, Krav Maga held its first "Fight for Life" fundraiser, the proceeds of which helped provide the seed funding for The Marni Fund. Thanks to supporters such as you, The Marni Fund has since raised well over $1,000,000 and has been able to expand its support to include nineteen research projects conducted by eleven world-class cancer researchers. Because of the unique arrangement STOP CANCER has with the three NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers it supports – UCLA’s Jonsson, USC Norris and City of Hope, each research award given is matched dollar for dollar with in-kind support, effectively doubling the value of each donation. This means that the funds raised to date have a full value of more than $2 million.
