I want to buy a punching bag for at home. I love the ones we use in class with the stand, but some are pretty pricey. What would you guys recommend? I am a heavy hitter and need something that can withstand a lot of abuse.

i have a pretty entry level everlast brand free standing heavy bag. its not the greatest but can definetly take a good punch and heavy lowline thai roundhouse kicks. i filled the base with water originally and it moved way too much. recently filled with sand and i like it much better. i will be buying a BOB XL when i move back to nyc and have been told to fill it with cement by a buddy who has 1

the bob xl’s run about 350 or so brand new but ebay and craigslist can be your friend. just found a bob xl on craigslist in orlando for $150. very good price and since its so large that i’d have to pick it up i can check it out before taking it. now to convince the wife that WE NEED it!

Us women like to do that. We do it to cats, dogs, kids even husbands. Its like a mannequin that you can hit!

I’ve got a wavemaster xxl, it’s pretty good but it does make a fair bit of noise if you hit it hard so if you have neighbours who won’t appreciate it then bare that in mind.

If you want hanging heavy bags then:
1. Thunder fight gear heavy bag
2. Revgear heavy bag
3. Fairtex heavy bagIf you are looking for stand alone:
1. wavemaster xxl from Revgear
2. bob
and there is the new http://www.bodyactionsystem.comthis device was developed by Bas. It is really good and gives a lot of versatility that the other bags do not. You can hit it and kick it as hard as you want. Works great with the MMA workout and the best is there is no impact on your joints.
They found a new manufacturer so they may be lowering the cost and I believe that is being done now.

Yeah, but now you got something to show why the other one is such a good deal. ;):
I think they are going to be lowering that price, but I could be wrong; its just not anything I deal with. I will tell you it’s a pretty cool device and fun to hit on.

Sorry it took so long to get back with you guys. I found a Wavemaster on Craigslist for $40! It’s it great condition and I’ve already put it to good use. Thanks for all the feedback.

That does look nice. Maybe once the price goes down or I can find a used one somewhere.

That BAS thing looks to be a great alternative to a full bag setup since it can be moved/folded-up. I’ll definitely keep my eye on this.
