I just started Krav Maga and have been using loaner gloves from the gym. We use what I think are MMA gloves (fingerless with knuckle padding and a bar across the palm. I like these gloves and am wanting to purchase my own pair HOWEVER, I do not buy leather. Any recommendations for a comparable synthetic glove?

How much should I prepare for this?

Synthetic gloves = stinky-city very fast compared to real leather. And they suck.

I’m new to Krav and ran into the same issue. I ended up trying the Everlast wrist wrap gloves and they work for me. The stitching on the gel might not last long though. Since then I’ve noticed most in my classes wear these, 180″ wrist wraps or nothing & switch to palm strikes if needed. Also, a lot of mma gloves in the $20 range are actually synthetic “leather”. Hope this helps.

I started out with gloves in Krav but I had a problem with spraining my wrists.
I use 180″ wraps. There are a lot of videos on how to wrap. I use my own technique that works for me. I wrap differently for Krav than I do for boxing as I use wraps and no gloves in Krav.
Hook loop around thumb start wrap over back of hand and transition to three wraps around wrist, transition to three wraps around spread knuckles, transition to one around wrist to hook behind thumb to once between the little finger and ring finger back to thumb, once between index and middle finger back to thumb, once between middle finger and ring finger back to thumb, transition around wrist back to three wraps around closed knuckles adjust with clenching for snug fit, transition back to wrist then figure eight around palm and wrist until at least one last wrap around wrist to fasten. I don’t wrap around the thumb because it has a tendency to put pressure on the nerves when I clench my fist and stresses my thumb with a palm strike.
Transitioning between a fist strike, palm strike and hammer strike is as good as with gloves.
The reason I do this is I can easily loosen or tighten when I need more wrist support. If I need to change wraps they are easily removed and quickly re-wrapped. I roll my wraps by rolling from the velcro end and rolling the wraps around my hands like I did with rolled gauze and tape when I was boxing.
They get damp during workout so I wash them in a hosiery bag in the washer with my workout clothing and dry them with low heat.
