My favorite sidearms are the Kimber 1911 .45ACP Stainless TLE II with Winchester Ranger Ammo, and MOD Mark 1 LE or Emerson Karambit Knife. I find these very effective.

February 19, 2006 at 8:57 pm #44808kravmaga1MemberMany people like Glocks… I’m looking at a Glock 30/36 or a Sig P245 as a B.U.G.
I’ve gotta have the 45ACP caliber. 😈

February 20, 2006 at 12:25 am #44816jaerooMemberI have an H&K USP .40 and S&W Model 457 .45. Besides those that I own, my other favorites are Glocks, Beretta 92s, Sigs, 1911s, and S&W .50. As far as ammo goes, .40 S&W is my preferred minimum.

Baby Eagle .40February 20, 2006 at 3:21 am #44821clfmakMemberI don’t carry guns, but since someone mentioned the MOD Mark 1 LE (I’d like one of these) and the Emerson Karambit, I figured I’d post:
Cold Steel walkabout XL- a good old fashioned shileleigh> Walking with a cane is cool.

Cold Steel sjambok- I carry one of these when I backpack- good range, very light, and no one knows what it is.
http://www.coldsteel.com/95sseries.html
Columbia River Knife and Tool Crawford Kasper folder (the big one)- a good sturdy folder that’s held up for years of use.
http://www.crkt.com/crawkasp.html
Gerber Firestorm- a smaller but still sturdy folder- for when I don’t feel like carrying the bigger one.

TOP Stryker flashlight- I carry this when I go on some nighttime adventures, and used to carry it working security but it was too bright- distracting to people at concerts and stuff.

Forearm covers- although they’d make a good weapon, I wear these sometimes because I like them, not primarily for self defense reasons.
http://www.martialartsmart.net/studleatforv.htmlFebruary 20, 2006 at 3:22 am #44822lazloMemberMy favorite \”sidearm\” is now my Remington 870 with folding stock and Surefire light installed. The Glock 17 9mm with Surefire light and Glock 36 .45(too short of a grip) are secondary and teriary.
The indoor range is so boring and expensive I must add but needed. Don’t need much range time with the shotgun though.February 20, 2006 at 3:22 am #44823ffdoMemberI love the HK USP compact LEM in .40 cal I own, but will say for the record I shoot better with a Glock. Glock 23 to be specific…. I also would say .40 cal as a minimum but like the .357 and .357 sig as well as .45s. The problem with .45s for me is my hands are too small for the larger double stack guns in this cal…… Oh, the Sig P220 in .45 cal is a great gun, just wish it had a few more booms to it…….

Short KA-BAR Black TantoSometimes I can’t carry the above (like at work), but I always carry a leatherman in my back pocket. I’ve learned to open it like a balisong and can use knife techniques with it in the pliers configuration.
February 20, 2006 at 3:58 am #44827kravmaga1MemberI would highly recommend the Emerson Combat Karambit $240.00MSRP and the M.O.D. Mark 1 LE $380.00MSRP. I also have a Surefire C2 Centurion.
My holster, belt, and magazine holder are all made by C.Rusty Sherrick. They are also highly recommended.
Keep it going…
BTW My gun grips are slimline Smith and Alexander (Grizzly Camo)
February 20, 2006 at 4:09 am #44831kravmdjeffMemberA question about the knives…hypothetical situation…
Say you’re in a self-defense situation, and you feel it’s appropriate to pull a knife and use it. You have this massive, awesome tactical military knife. The guy doesn’t die, but you have charges pressed against you.
Would it be a legal disadvantage to have this knife that’s been designed to kill humans, showing a pre-determined decision to use the knife on another person, versus a smaller, more tool-like or outdoor sports-oriented knife?
This may be a question for a lawyer who could speak to legal precedent when it came to crimes involving blades.
February 20, 2006 at 4:27 am #44833kravmaga1MemberJeff good question.
I would rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
My Krav Maga skills are more advanced than my knife skills.
It is very interesting to me that the Karambit videos techn iques are very similar to our techniques except with a knife strike.
Anyway my

February 20, 2006 at 5:11 am #44839jarcherMemberMy favorite would be one of my Sigs, probably my P239/.40 with night sights and Nill grips. I carry it in a High Noon slide guard holster. I like Sigs best and actively dislike Glocks.
For you .45ACP guys, Sig has announced a new .45. Its a smaller version of the 220, designed for carry. It’s about the size of a 229 and is available in DAK, DA and SAO.
