I distinctly remember Wally Jay starting a dojo in one of the high schools in Alameda, and there are quite a few martial arts academies here already, but I’ve been to quite a few of them and they’re honestly all just expensive classes to teach youngsters flashy moves… Karate, Kung Fu, Tae Kwon Do, lots of them already there, but I really hoped that someone would start Krav Maga there

You’re in luck. Krav Maga Institute just opened a place on the water opposite the coast guard island, just a short swim from Alameda. (Or you can drive over to the mainland if you’re a traditionalist.) Facilities are excellent, trainers rotating from KMI SF and beyond.
