Pretty cool, but I’ve worked at a judo tournament before- the video didn’t show all the boring feeling out periods. I think the best videos of action packed throws are the Cung Le sanshou matches (you can find some clips through google).
December 19, 2005 at 3:15 pm #42473emilMemberHey CLF, do you know where I can find some none Cung Le San Shou videos? I’d like to see some more even match ups.
December 19, 2005 at 5:39 pm #42474garddawgMemberI’ve never seen an even match up with Cung Le.
December 19, 2005 at 6:16 pm #42475emilMemberI agree, it looks most of the guys that show up don’t have a clue. Even when he fought Shonie Carter, he threw him like 10 times. There’s gotta be international competition out there for him.

There’s some of his clips- again, no one quite in his league. I’ve seen kickboxers as good, but never anyone as good at seamless integration of throwing/sweeping techniques with strikes/kicks. I’d love to see a match between Cung Le and Ramon Dekker
(some clips of him here: http://www.cungle.com/cungle/downloads.html ). That would be awesome- I’d probably give it to Cung Le because his striking/grappling background would probably allow him to adapt easier to elbows and knees than it would for Dekker to adapt to throws with his striking/limited grappling background.
I read an article (in Inside Kung Fu maybe) that said he was studying submission grappling of some sort so he could move onto mixed martial arts with groundfighting and lightweight gloves.December 20, 2005 at 7:57 am #42488clfmakMemberOops- I meant to paste this one (Ramon Dekker) for the second link:
http://www.compfused.com/directlink/442/There’s some of his fights on this site, with lots of others as well. There’s kind of a cool Benny \”the Jet\” fight.

December 22, 2005 at 1:58 am #42547emilMemberI thought Cung was scheduled to fight MMA some time early next year. As for his grappling, he’s trained bjj and I know he’s won in shidokan matches, which involves groundfighting. Then again he’s had a pretty good deal, he promotes his own fights and events. keeps all the cash. Plus now he’s like 33, a little late to get into a whole new game. I am sure he would do fine with most average MMA guys, not so sure with top fighters though. Unlike most kickboxers only they train the same ranges as him. by the way, san shou fighters have regularly wonde really well against MT, in match ups. The fast throws add a whole new dimension to the clinch.
