I have been looking into a method called the fence taught by Geoff Thompson. Its hard to explain (you can google search the videos). I wanted to know if anyone has any experience or opinions on this.
Thanks.
Re: Geoff Thompson
It’s a non threatening stance between the passive and the fighting stance. It’s good to use while trying to descalate a situation.
Re: Geoff Thompson
I like it because it allows you to have your hands “up” and very close to what would be a fighting stance without actually going into a fighting stance. I used it once on the street with my feet in a fighting stance and keeping my hands near the guy’s shoulder and it worked to
deescalate the situation.
Re: Geoff Thompson
I totally advocate Thompson’s materials. I try to infuse a lot of his “animal day” methods in my classes, from L1 on.
