We have green belt test coming up this month in E. Brunswick Krav, can anyone describe what to expect? I don’t have a book, so any info would be helpful. Also any insights about what is not in a book. The emphasis, general advice. Personally I felt the the first test (yellow belt) was the toughest.

    Thanks,
    Alex

    Green Belt test

Took green belt test (Level 3?) test this past Sat., Oct 27. Whew! Most of what CJ’s dad said was on it. Three hours of review and 1 hour of very intence non-stop test. Later that day and the day after I was a hurting puppy 😀 – combatives were brutal. Also included sparring at the end. I used Accelerade mix (has 40% protein in it) for hydration. Worked pretty good. Never cramped, not during, not after. Somewhat stiff the next day, but nothing outrageous. Today – (2nd day after) – almost normal.

How long does it take to find out the results (pass/fail)?

We had a green belt test in Sherman Oaks a few weeks ago, I gotta tell ya up until that day I would have agreed with you about the yellow belt being the toughest. Wow, this one was brutal!

We went for almost 6 hours, with about an hour sparing at the end. When we thought we where about done we went on to 2 on 1 sparing, ack, it was awesome though. You know how everyone talks about first time students puking in class, well I was close to loosing it as I finished fighting. Then you hear those magic wordsÖ. ìOne Lineî Ö I donít think there is a better feeling in the world then knowing you gave it your all and never gave up!

For general advice, assuming you are otherwise prepared for the test, do a review of your level 1 & 2 techniques, we did need to perform some. Most of all, conditioning. Everyone agreed that we would have performed better, primarily in sparring, if we had better conditioning.

Hope that helps and good luck! Itíll hurt a bit, but itís so worth it!

Our test was hell.. First the workout to wear us out, then we started with Bas tapes on the bags, if we didnt go 100%, we had to do more rounds. Then we did 4-5 krav techniques, followed by 3-4 rounds of full contact sparring. This was our entire test.. krav techniques, then sparred, etc, etc, etc.. Ended it with 3 on 1 sparring. Hardest test ever.. Cant wait for our next test at the end of the month. 😯 😯

Well, guys, it seems your green belt tests were more demanding than ours. We had seven people taking it, so in the end everyone had to spar with everyone – six rounds about 1 min each, but we did not do 2 or 3 on 1. We had eyes closed surprise attacks with everything from level one and two with 100% defense/combatives. No weapons, though. I presume the next level will definitely have multple attackers sparring.
