I went to the campus doctors today but I was only seen by student nurse practitioners and I was wondering what your input was?

Just wondering how long. I’m thinking a week maybe?

I haven’t been to Krav in a while with school/tests and right when I had a chance to go back I got sick and messed up my elbow.

Now ya know why you haven’t seen me in a while Jeff. Hah.

It’s been said before – This isn’t the best place for medical advice …

I’ve battled elbow problems off and on for as long as I can remember – Well before I started Krav. It may be a more chronic thing for me, but it’s almost always been related to hyperextension. For me, RICE has been sufficient (rest, ice, compression and elevation) if it’s bad enough – Usually, I just train through it. I also wear a compression type brace when I train.

    Good luck!

I know this isn’t a doctors office but thanks for the input. I wanted to hear some others experiences. I hope it gets better soon I’ve never had this before that I can think of really.

I had my right one over extended in my jiu jitsu class.. Too much pride in being tapped out by a guy I usually beat. 😀 Took about 3 weeks for it to completely heal but I still did my krav classes, just no bjj.

See I go to punch my punching bag and it hurts me to do with my right. I’m afraid to go back to krav and get it hurt even more but I want to learn more level 2 stuff. This sucks!!

You will get back, but you have to give it time. My doc explained to me that tendons (I’m guessing this is what you strained?) don’t get good blood supply and take longer to heal.

Does your university have a school of physical therapy or an \”exercise physiology\” department? If so, check and see if they have any kind of rehab services that you could utilize. It’s tough when you’re being treated by people who don’t participate in hard training – usually they’ll tell you \”just rest\” but sports medicine specialists understand how important it is to us to get back to training.

Good luck, and STEP AWAY FROM THE PUNCHING BAG!

Oh I forgot to add I hurt it last Saturday.

And I haven’t been to Krav in a while due to school.
