For tonight: I’m making a chocolate pie, and I picked up all sorts of yummy snacks at the grocery store to nibble on while watching the election returns. Oh yeah, and plenty of booze (since I voted for McCain – ha ha!!!).

(I’m a political junkie so Election Day is almost like Christmas around here.)

There’s going to be radicals on both sides. But riots? I still think it’s not even in the same ballpark as the Rodney King beating. Not that it justifies it, because it doesn’t, but the reason the riots were triggered was not due to the video, but due to the acquittal of the cops involved. The injustice of it all was the driver.

Here’s my point. For months the MSM had been using flawed polls to portray this huge Obama lead. Had he lost the minority community would have seen this as a huge injustice and probably corruption. You can see by the results there was no 10+ point blowout like the MSM polls were suggesting. Had Obama lost many would have seen this as a huge racial smite. There has been social unrest in the past for less.

I’m glad there was no social unrest but had there been it would lie on the hands of those in the MSM who let their bias guide their coverage.

And you are correct, there are wacko’s on both sides.

I understand what you are saying, but you seem to have this notion that minorities are somehow not able to control themselves and act violently when something doesn’t go the way they thought it would go. Riots based on racial tension don’t just occur based on what COULD be corruption. The Los Angeles Riot of ’92 occurred because of the FACT that the corrupt cops were acquitted. The Watts Riot of ’65 was fueled by the racial tension that escalated due to the passing of Prop 14 which allowed landlords to discriminate based on race.

Now i would agree with you if McCain won, and it was PROVEN that he won due to racial corruption, and they caught the corrupt people involved, put them on trial, and THEN let them go without even a slap on the wrist, then yes, a riot would have occurred.

As far as social unrest occurring based on less, yes, i agree and do realize that happens. I mean, rioting has occurred in recent history after stupid sporting events. But you can’t blame that on just minorities. That’s the fault of all those people of any race.

I agree. That was a scary time for me in los angeles. Rioting and looting is just wrong.

Our system is the way it is and it works fine. In the end, the department of Justice reopened it ang got at least 2 of those guys. Trial system corrupt, no. but the cops were.

First off, you seem to have a threshold where you see indiscriminant violence against innosents, aka “rioting”, is justifiable. I see NO circumstances where this is justifiable.

My comments were on a “potentially” racialy charged situation artificially created by the MSM. This obviously challenged your threshold, thus your being offended. Too bad… I certainly wasn’t the first to notice it and definately not the first to comment on it.

If you haven’t noticed this thread was started in a “Humorous” vain. If you are seeking a political or racial argument there are other forums for that.
