That video has been on the news a couple times here in Orlando. Our news station has a slightly different perspective. First, the guy wasn’t really that old. He done the heoric feat to protect his girlfriend – the girl seen jumping up and down by the teller window. The news said he was afraid his girlfriend would be hurt so he done what he had to to protect her. What I didn’t see in this video, and what was shown on the news video here, is that his girlfriend (the one jumping up and down by the teller) ran over and started kicking the BG while her boyfriend had him on the ground.

That’s the way the news portrayed it here anyway.

Haha!! 🙂 I work in online advertising and my client, CBS, advertises there, so we have to frequently check it to see the ads for our competitors (NBC and ABC).

That’s the official story … really I’m just a gossip junkie. 😉 Don’t hate!!!!

The ‘untrained’ disarms have such potential for things to go terribly wrong – even a ‘trained’ disarm is going to be risky..

This guy could have easily had his head blown off at close range..

Engaging in some grappling with an armed felon? Hmm, no thanks…

The bravery is impressive though & great it ended well.

One thing is apparent in these types of CCTV disarm vids though, which is the near Universal moment of total surprise and shock in the BG when someone launches a counterattack – this is the (small) window of opportunity to get inside their loop and ‘win’ decisively…

Definitely great points – I love to see the “happy” ending, but the odds of that happening are definitely not in favor of the disarmer.
