Bouncers guide to barroom brawling: dealing with the sucker puncher, streetfighter, and ambusher.
I am having a lot of fun with this book. I have already had 2 or three epiphanies reading this material. The book is a little dated, discounting the recent popularity of MMA, but it is still a very refreshing look at martial arts and why the author, Peyton Quinn, advocates only a few of the many techniques he has learned over the years for actual fighting.
A must read.

another good one —
http://jeffcooperbooks.com/jml/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=14&Itemid=29Its how your grandpa would talk to you about shooting. He addresses self defense with comments like “when a man demonstrates, in effect, that he is ready and willing to kill you, your response should not be fearful but wrathful”
Full of good nuggets that are most definitely self defense, but does ramble on with some old stories, kind of like, well kind of like you would expect a grandpa to….
