Ive been studying Krav for years now and Ive always been somewhat of a loner. I decided to reach out to the online “brothers” out there on the Krav forums and I found this sight. Not being the guy to just jump in I decided to read some posts and get familiar with you guys. All I have found is a lot of jerks insulting Moni (my instructor) and CKM! Im hurt and troubled by this as CKM has served me many times in defense and work situations and help my wife fend off a would be attacker, who is now blind in one eye thanks to MONI! Is it really neccesary to bash a guys entire system because he doesn’t belong to this org or that one? You guys are a bunch of elistist, poumpous jerks and I would love to spar a few full contact rounds with you, I guarentee i’d put you on your necks with my crappy CKM. Let’s remember before Imi became head of the IDF school, he taught his UNCERTIFIED style to the locals to help defend themselves and thats what its about.

I believe people’s issue with Moni Azik is that he is not who he claims to be. As far as I know, only Avi Moyal has the combat credentials that the Moni Aziks, Jim Wagoners and Mike Whasshisnames claim to possess. If CKM has worked for you, great. But people don’t like liars, on this board or anywhere else.

bear34, thanks for chiming in. Moni’s has always said that his military records were classified, they were never proven false. In order to be able to make a claim of being in the IDF you have to release your records to the ASA and since he didb’t they classify him as unsubstantiated, not a liar. As a formner soilder whose records have also been classified I can attest to tons of reasons for not disclosing your records. And like you said his system does work. No one denys that he was enlisted in the Israeli Army and he has proven results. He trained Carlos Newton and Mark Bocek!
August 5, 2011 at 3:28 pm #82691bear34MemberRe: Moni/CKM
Hold on now. I am not endorsing his methods, I have not trained in his system and can’t endorse or discredit his methods. I believe that his commando and commando training credentials have been adequately disproven, however. There has been no one who will substantiate his claims, even anonomously.

I apoligize, I did not mean to imply that you were advocating Moni’s style. I simply thanked you for the comment that if it worked use it. Again, No one can dispute his service in the IDF, as we all serve. If, as many people have pointed out, Moni was strictly a fight teacher and fitness instructor then guess what He had the same job as the great Imi Litchfield! Our government classifies Krav Maga as a general term for combination martial arts, how can one system not be the “right” one when the whole technique is a combination of boxing/judo/muay thai? There are many soldiers of the IDF, many I have served with who attest to Moni saying he is who he claims to be on his testimonial pages.

IdDropU,
I feel your pain and frustration with yor concern about people bashing Moni and CKM. But, I must say I think you were totally out of bonds by the manner you expressed yourself in your post above. Calling members of this forum a “bunch of elitest, pompous jerks”: was totally uncalled for. I know Moni personnaly and he would not condon such language directed to any other style or person. And to come on this forum and make a challange to spar with members on this forum stateing you would put them on their “neck”, come-on what a rediculous thing to say. You may be very good at sparring, but I’m sure there are some on this forum would welcome the chance to see just how good you are. I lnow Moni would not condom you making such a statement either. You may wonder who I am. I’ve trained in both KM (KMWW) and CKM. I found both systems to be quality RBSD systems. I trained in KM for about 4 years (level-3 orange belt) and CKM for about 3/4 years. I even went to Moni’s CKM boot camp and got cerrtified as a Level-2 instructor. And I loved it. Although, I haven’t been able to train in KM or CKM for a couple years now. There are some techniques in CKM that I like better then KM. And, likewise, some in KM I like better than CKM.
There was (is) a very long thread on this forum discussing Moni and CKM. It got pretty nasty at times. But, there were very few that doubted CKM technique. Most posts were about Moni’s validity and his claims he never proved. I personally felt hurt by some of the comments too, but I didn’t post on this forum calling people names. I currently don’t train in KM or CKM – I wish I did. But I find merit in both systems and support both systems 100%.
The previous thread was finally closed by administration. I hope this one gets closed too if it starts getting out of hand like the previous one.
Keep training hard and tell Moni I said hello the next time you see him.

BradM, you are totaly right and I feel foolish for my hot words. Allow me to express my apoligies to you and the people of this board. As you say it hurt to see some of the mean things said about someone I consider a friend and mentor. Im glad you enjoyed training in CKM and as you said Moni would not condone a hot tounge. I will see him in Tel-Aviv on September 8th. And will send your regards. P.S, Im always game for some full contact sparring. :D:

Gentleman, I’d like to remind everyone to keep it civil. Personal attacks are not tolerated I do understand the need to vent at times but threats to do physical harm are way over the line.
Thank youAugust 6, 2011 at 1:01 am #82700donMemberRe: Moni/CKM
The real question is, do you prefer Tommy’s Moni or Billy’s Moni?

And the bonus question, who’s got better hair?

If I came accross a little hard in my previous post, I apologize for tht too. As I said, I beleive both KM and CKM have a lot of merit I like and support both. Good luck in Tel-Aviv. I was 66 when I went to the boot camp, ask about my 7-minute pressure test. I was in Israel a couple months ago on a Holy Land cruise. I didn’t make it ot Tel-Aviv but did make it to Haifai (Bethleham) and Ashod (Jerusalem). Really enjoyed it – Israel is a wonderful country.

LOL Brad it wasn’t anything personal, I was more trying to remind myself not to take him up on his sparring offer.
He seems a decent fellow, I’d hate to kill him – but I know something he doesn’t know.
