i understand and respect your thoughts on the FULL RINO coming my self from a boxing backround i was not impressed with the move but seeing and training it really changed my mind .the quick counter you say is eliminated but is actually you elbow in his face as you block and counter at he same time , i really was unimpressed with this move at first but train it a few times against a hook or straight punch ( i would recommend you partner has a face guard on as you elbows should hit his face ) from there your hands can shoot around the back of his head in to a muay thai clasp and knees . if you do train it even out of intrest let me know how you got on . i have never seen the FULL rino used much bit i think it comes for ” fairburn and sykes ” though it is not in their combat manual ” get tough ” out side of the class i go to i have only ever seen it used on a documantary about the new zealand SAS
the move is around the 6 min mark on the youtube link

Too many holes in the “Rhino” defense:
1. You can’t see because you’re covering your eyes.
2. You totally immobilize both your hands.
3. You open yourself up for a hook, then upper cut.
4. Your midsection/ribs ask for a big knee strike.
5. You can’t see if a weapon is introduced.
6. You can’t properly defend multiple strikes. This technique would work if your attacker were running at you full speed and they had their eyes closed, other then that it wouldn’t work.

I’m a big fan of having longer arms than the other guy for jab defenses.

I thought that this was a simple yet ingenious training tool to help when working on the heavy bag in regards to hooks/ defenses etc.
