\”\”\”\”\”\”\”\”\” I think it is an unfair to pull statistics or examples of pro-style MMA fights when talking about effective street fighting. Let’s be honest here, most of those guys have trained for years, and at the pro level, most only train or teach. If you want to see how effective people are who have mostly a BBJ background, watch some amatuer MMA fights. I have noticed most fighters at this level have little or no striking skills and the fights drag on and on.\”\”\”\”\”\”\”

Firstly, I only pulled the statistics from the pro style MMA fights because someone mentioned how they thought they’d be unlikely to submit a skilled opponent (skilled= trained) and these statistics arent just UFC or Pride- its all MMA fights

I also disagree with how some amateur fights drag on because of lack of striking skills- in most lower level MMA competitions (and amateur ones as well) striking is the relied upon tactic. However, wrestlers also happen to be more successfull at this level of competition as well (figure most of the good submission fighters are fighting in the higher level MMA competitions) so ground and pound is also popular as well.

\”\”\”\”\”\”\”\”If the opportunity presents itself, of course I am going to take an arm or an elbow, but don’t think a person with a broken arm can’t continue the fight. Being a cop, I have seen guys do some crazy stuff with broken bones.\”\”\”\”\”\”\”\”\”

I work as a bouncer and I’ve seen some crazy things too- one being a guy on PCP who just seems to give two shits after one of my friends armbarred him and broke it off (however, when the choke was applied, it didnt matter how tough or pumped up he was). *SOME* guys can continue fighting after a limb has been broken, but they’re at a serious disadvantage here. The skeleton serves as a structure to anchor muscles so natrually when a part of it is broken, its not going to work too well.

Also, ask yourself this question as well- if a broken arm barely phases the guy, how effective will punches or kicks be as well?

\”\”\”\”\”\”\”\”\”\”\”Plus, I don’t like to be on the ground with anyone longer than I need to be. I constantly drill this into the guys I train at work. I am very comfrotable ground fighting or stand-up fighting and love training in both styles, but it is my opponent’s friends I worry about.\”\”\”\”\”\”\”\”\”\”\”\”

Once again, thats a matter of preference as to whether you prefer stand up or ground fighting. Its the fact that you realize that the quickest way to avoid groundfighting is to train in it so you know what to do and I tip my hat to you for that- most people arent willing to accept that and therefore completely neglect ground fighting period.

I didn’t notice any eye candy, but I did notice a bunch of dedicated, hard workers there to train. ❗
