I got accidently kicked in the shin once by a guy doing a knife defense in class (quite obviously not the one we were supposed to do ;): ) and it send me straight down to the ground, almost like a liver kick. Was swollen for weeks. So, I guess you are right, if it’s a granny with a broom stick, I may not worry too much, but some enraged guy twice my size with a metal pipe, I wouldn’t want to take any chances.

Stick overhead is for P4 and stick baseball G1 so it should be about 1 year between the two levels.
Yea, have the leg defense as a variation if you are late to react to a stick to the leg, but not as a general sollution.

GK, that is the point, if you come in the same every time, leg up, you cover all variables and only have to use one technique.
If he starts high, then goes low you are covered.
In any event, the idea is to get in as close as possible, so the timing is crucial.
