Can someone explain what a cavalier is?
Also, those of you who are interested in this stuff might want to look up STAB on youtube. It’s a knife defense program advocating live training and uses a Greco-Roman base. It looks like good stuff IF you know the opponent has a knife.

‘Cavalier’ is the KM term for wrist locks..
KM has an extensive plethora of EW defenses and scenarios which are covered in training ranging from various unexpected attacks from someone intent on causing you harm to more static ‘robbery at the ATM’ type situations.
The KM defenses are ‘tested’ and refined based on real World experience – also, dummy knives are used in training to enhance realism.

Another concept to keep in mind for the knife defenses against knife threats (where there is no stab but the attacker just presents the knife) is that once the knife is redirected, it’s usually on the attacker’s chest or near their neck. If you’re kicking and the attacker isn’t getting “soft” enough for you to attempt a takeaway, you can always use the knife to slash at the attacker while you’re kicking; and when you have some ‘splaining to do later you can simply say you were struggling to take it.
