Re: Hello from San Antonio, Tx.

Thanks for your support guys. I am starting to attend KM2 classes and keeping my cardio up with ALL KO classes as well. I can’t wait to get into Ground & Pound and All Fight.

Yeah baby! I’m addicted I’m a Krav Maga junkie!

It’s a good thing my girlfriend is a level 2 as well, because she understands the need for the Krav Fix.

Re: Why the hate on Krav by MMA people?

I don’t think one is generally better or tougher than the other. It depends on what you’re using it for.

I wouldn’t buy a Porsche 911 Turbo to haul bedroom furniture, wood, gravel etc. Just like I wouldn’t buy a V8 Ford Truck to go racing on a track vs. Porsches.

MMA has rules, but does require it’s fighters to know various kinds of martial arts. Krav is a no nonsense self defense based on a mixture of martial arts and other forms. (I know I’m stating the obvious)

I don’t think one is better than the other. You can’t take Krav into the octagon, you’d get disqualified in a few seconds after a few groin strikes. ha ha!!! I also don’t think if a thug tries to mess with you in a bar or alleyway with a gun, and you kick him for points Tae Kwan Do style and hang around for a Jiu Jitsu Kimora is very effective either.

Sounds like a few meatheads with egos, or insecurity issues hate on Krav without knowing what Krav is.

Re: Hello from San Antonio, Tx.

Ok, I lived through the test. I have to say it was tough. I’ve played soccer since I was 5, and this was right up there with the toughest match I’ve ever played at any level (rec, league, college).

So the morning of the test I woke up, and weighed myself at 166lbs, and when I came back from the test and I was down to 161lbs. I lost 5 lbs of fluids in just a few hours. I even hydrated during the test. Wow.

I would do it all over again in a second. (So yes, I’m going back for more fun, learning and punishment with the KM2 classes.)

Except the part where both of my hamstrings cramped at the end of the test, siezed up and kept me from being able to properly track/follow my partner in a ground defense. A little voice popped in my head, and said “oh no, I ain’t goin’ out like a little b***h!” I started the round kick from the ground and I fought through it and kicked through that banana bag harder than ever before. The more my hammys screamed the harder I kicked the bag, I also hurled a few expletives at my defiant hammys that I won’t repeat on this thread. No way was I quitting…no beeping way.

The exam is a great test of a lot of things…Keith, one of our judges, was right; the exam is a test of character, how you push through fatigue, and fight the urge to give up and quit.

There were times during the test when a stream of sweat was flowing off my nose, I was leaning over trying to catch my breath and I just thought “holy beep, this is beep-ing tough, what the beep did I just get myself involved in?” Well I’m too dumb to know when to quit, so I just kept on and kept motivating my partner and others around me, which also kept me going. My girlfriend being there was also moral support as well.

Kudos to our judges who are also great instructors. The test was a learning experience, fun, tough, a beating, pounding, cardio-hell and all well worth it.

I’m sure I passed, but I also know what I still need to work on. KM1 classes will be a regular part of my schedule, because everything is based on maintaining a solid foundation, and anybody who’s ever played sports knows; you always keep practicing the basics.

Ok, I’m sore, tired, and I’ve run my mouth enough. See ya’ll in KM2!

    Peace!

Yeah, I’m drinking my fluids, vitamins etc getting ready for today. I don’t want to just pass the test, I want to blow it away.

    Thanks for your feedback!
