Giant Killer, I started this thread a couple of times and then deleted it and started over. I just don’t want to come off sounding like I’m bashing my KM school. I really like the owner and the instructors. I guess what it comes down to is eye and throat strikes are more lethal than punching someone in the face, even if the attacker may be intending to kill you. But, to answer your question, legal ramifications against the owner.

Regarding open hand strikes on Human Weapon. When I trained in a combative system (pre- KM), the rule of thumb was open hand neck & up, and closed or open below the neck. Because that was the systems focus and I trained that way 6 to 8 hours per week it became \”ingrained\” in me. Both closed and open hand are effective, but I prefer open hand to the head/neck areas in most instances. It seems that many military systems do too. I’ve been trying to get my KM school to train open hand techs, but i’m getting a definite impression there is concern about legal ramifications.

GK, with my very best Elvis impersonation I say \”thank you, thank you very much\”! However, I must come clean, I am not the son of CJs Dad. It was fun while it lasted, though. I’ll still take the eloquent part, if that’s ok?

unstpabl1, did you train in KM in Wisconsin?

I enjoyed the KM episode of Human Weapon very much. One of the things I noticed is the open hand techs used by some of the advanced KM instructors. KM and open hand techs blend well together. Do many of you out there use open hand when training at your school or do you use all closed fist strikes.

Hello everyone. I am kind of an old timer, and yet always starting over. I started KM in 2000 or 2001. When I began training I went 4 times a week. I did that for a year or so. Since then I have a tendency to go back for a few months and then take a break. Often times it is do to my work schedule and sometimes it’s boredom. I used to post quite often on the old forum but have never posted since the changeover. I just started back to KM and I am going to try and stick with it this time. Just wanted to say hi.
