\”You could be right, might have been the instructor I had. But with level 1 Krav cert and a wrestling background, (not to mention Air Force guy in an army course), I was able to effectively defeat the instructor of the course.
Says volumes about the system IMO.\”
No offense man, but that says nothing about the system IMO.
November 1, 2005 at 4:16 am #41142johnMemberI think this whole post is pretty sad. In the 3 minutes it took me to post this I could have spent a round on the bag, a round rolling, or a round sparring… all training rather than deciding whose kung fu is better and whose is the real KM. Who cares… just train!
September 21, 2005 at 6:06 pm #40137johnMemberI think Krav Ron got jipped as far as training goes.
I have a good friend who is a MAC instructor, I trained with him less than a week ago. What did I see at the gym on post? I saw guys doing MT based strikes and BJJ. I asked about it and investigated the site. Muay Thai strikes, BJJ, and FMA based weapons stuff from the Dog Brothers… not bad.
I think you got a bad instructor Krav Ron.September 16, 2005 at 7:57 pm #40032johnMemberI’m just saying we don’t know for sure unless we were there or he comes here.
September 16, 2005 at 3:11 pm #40026johnMemberI disagree, it would be great to get CSM Prosser on here and tell us why he threw the weapon down and tackled the threat. For example does he usually carry his weapon in a chest sling and dropped it thinking it would be hanging by his side? Did he go in to control the threat’s weapon and trip on debris (could look like a tackle)? All we do know is he went in, confronted the threat with aggression and intent and ultimately won.
also dirty tactics go both ways… terrorist bit his wrist… he smashed terrorist face into concrete.
I don’t think it should be a textbook story as to why soldiers shouldn’t groundfight. rebar/glass/furnture/cannisters/blood etc can play a role whether groundfighting, stand-up, or clinchfighting.

Go to a JKD school, go to a Krav school, find out which one you like best (if you have both). If you started with JKD (it sounds like you did) and there are no JKD schools, check out a Krav school, then check out another school and make a decision on what you think is the best school for you.
January 7, 2005 at 12:49 am #35674johnMemberHey Erik,
We started a LE program about a month ago. It is slowly building, we have a class 2x a month, during a Thursday morning so Mids and Evening shiftworkers can attend. It helps that the local DT guys are really into it also. Tell Eric and Jay, John from KY said \”Hey\”, I doubt they remember me… we went through Phase A at the same time.

I spoke with Ryan a couple of weeks ago. I am looking at the possibility of moving closer to family in NC. The time frame will be w/in 2005. I currently teach full time at CORE MTC in Louisville Ky. You can check out our website at http://www.corelouisville.com. I’m sorry I can’t offer a place as far as a location for you guys. Good luck with the seminar.

I believe the ASP has its place as a multi-use tool, as mentioned before, but as an impact weapon, I haven’t had success with it. An individual can weather a couple of strikes and close in with you causing a clinch situation, whereas with the TASEr that’s usually not the case. Just my 2 cents.
