    Re: home defense weapons

    quote jaspthecat:

LOL, all this talk of guns for home defence.

In the UK, we would prosecuted if we tickled an intruder with a feather, nevermind blow his head off…..

Ridiculous ini, I’ve heard of cases where someone comes down in the night face to face with an intruder, gets into a scuffle, restrains the intruder, yaddah yaddha then the homeowner gets sued by the intruder cos he’s injured his ankle and can’t work! :Surprised:

The UK laws are just ridiculous, the law is on the offenders side unfortunately, comfy prisons, slap on the wrists for beatings and muggings etc, no hope

Re: Explosive Punching and Aggresive Defense

Wicked, glad you guys are liking it,

I love the way he makes you feel as if anyone, small or large could be a knockout king haha, very inspiring way of writing! Good for me as I’m only 5 foot 8!

Chocolate Soldier, thanks for that, I’ve downloaded it and will be having a good read of it as I have the afternoon free to lounge about!

Gotta stay off Assassins Creed 2 and do something productive :abx:

Re: Months-old hand injury healed by skiing?!

I have RSI in my right hand because Im training to be a carpenter in college so now and again my right hand is very weak….

Last time this happened I wore a splint for the day then took it off and went to Krav class, coulda been a stupid idea but the next day it felt a lot stronger, mystery haha

good to hear the pain has gone though

I’d hate to not be able to go

Re: What did you do in Krav Maga class today?

Last night we did the usual warm up, running through the middle, scanning, getting whacked on the head by the instructor if u werent scanning enough or in my case cos i didnt have my head down  haha

then we did this group exercise, one defender, 4 “mummies” all walking towards you hands outstretched trying to get you in forward choke, had to bat their hands away and keep moving, intense!!

then we focused on dry drills as there were a lot of people in the class

I’m glad we did that as he went into depth about punching properly and how you can put all of your body weight into a punch with the power of your hips, shoulders and a twist of the foot!

Made me wanna practise dry drills at home a lot more

    Loving it, roll on thursday!!

    Re: How can I Improve?

Just ordered the beginners Krav book off amazon :): sweet

Also last night I went to class without having eaten all day, will never do it again!

Was fine while I was there, but had the most killer headache afterwards

But yeah, can’t wait to get stuck into this book and hopefully progress a bit faster

Will have to scan around see if I can get hold of the Bas Rutten stuff

    Cheers

    Re: How can I Improve?

    quote stevetuna:

All great questions, Baptist! Here’s a couple of quick thoughts:

1.) Pick up “Krav Maga for Beginners” by Darren Levine and Ryan Hoover. Go through that book and you’ll be moving even faster in the right direction.

2.) Cross-train to build your conditioning and strength. Check out crossfit.com for what I think is the best program out there.

3.) Focus on your technique when working on your punching bag as much or more than you focus on your power. Have a friend take a quick video of you as you perform techniques. Ask your instructor for a quick critical review with techniques that you’re having trouble with.

4.) Keep your attitude where it is – man, you’d be a great student to have in class!

    Best wishes!

Ahh thanks a lot, when I ordered the complete Krav book, I couldn’t see one for beginners so I assumed there wasn’t one!

I will get on it and buy the beginners book asap

Just checked out the crossfit site, looks great will definately be having a good browse at that

I have a friend who goes to class one week then misses another, because of work and stuff, he said he’s definately up for practising together though so I’m hoping we’ll get started soon!

Thanks for the advice, appreciate it 🙂

    quote Safetyal:

The first thing that came to my mind is the Bas Rutten MMA workout (it is Cd’s and a DVD). It is a great all round conditioning tool.

I’ll check this out, the guys crazy hah, thanks a lot
