    Re: Krav Maga modifications

Hi MrBump I am now practicing an weapon system called ACT, Advanced Combat Tactics, and simultaneously we learn Krav Maga, we use the 360 only in context when the atacker is noob or with no weapon knowledge, but when you looks that your opponent have the elbow in the weapon arm close to his body, is too much close to you (Always with secure distance of course, we are no superman) Or you suspect than are an advanced oponent we use something similar to a 360 but splitted, first block with a hammer with back weight balance and then attack.

This is a simple explanation, I am not a instructor, in the process of launch a 360 you go forward, a noob not change the path but an advanced of course will do, then you are exposed to the attack. When talking about knife It is important not to believe in dogmas.

Re: Has there been a decline?

In my gym something similar happens, many of my training partners have left KM because he fells that no have necessity to improve, one go to MMA because it is a beast, but a good person.

I think that in my case have much to learn, in the past I practiced Kickboxing when 16 years old, I left because crazy people became instructors and practitioners are more crazy than the instructor, many years later I began JKD, I try hard but left because the promise of learning an adequate and real defense system was only a promise, interminable drills, exotic movements… Not for me, then year and half ago began Krav Maga, I like, like first of all that all I learn is easy and contundent, can ask without feel that the instructor is losing his time, and aswer me with clarity and respect, and the approaching is gradual an realistic.

A KM bubble it is possible, by now new people has suscripted to the gym, I will continue almost to the brown level.

Re: What did you do in Krav Maga class today?

I Told you, this is the second class of the week the mondays we have something we call Sparring mondays.

Self defence and ground survival… Yellow grade reviewed, Spiced with 130 push ups, in series of 10, 20, 30, 40 and 30 between kicking and punching combos (midle roundkick, low and groin combinations, left/right, left/hammer combinations) 25 pull ups in series of five repetitions 😛 50 sprawls in series of 10 repetitions… take breath!!!

Hand grip scapes, crossed hand grip scapes, two hand grip scapes, neck grip scapes, back grip scapes (one/two hands), all with proper finishing attacs, of course.

Falls, stand ups, “scapes” in all of the attac range, stop and control with arms (when his head is in left, right), semi-sprawl(take the nose and turn), sprawl, in the floor, in the floor to the body, fall and move on guard (left, right while kicking) And at the end a bit of shadow sparring with fall and stand up (basic and mma style) when instructor aka “torture man” says actually he is a good person… Sometimes ;):.

And go for home in order to take a rest… At last!!!

    Re: Level Two/Orange belt test

In my particular case, I have almost two years practicing Krav Maga, soon in 21 February I will make the test to take the Orange level, my instructor tell to us that the KM program not take much to learn, but he prefer to improve the physical, technical and mental side rather than explain too fast all the content.

So I practice KM four/three days a week, one focusing on kickboxing/boxing, another two focused primary in “pure” KM and a little of ACT (Weapon system, see Alexander Zhelezniak) And another day courtesy of my instructor for advanced students, focused primary in perfection of ground fighting, combinations and ACT.

Lately my instructor “shows the whip” and put us and enormous focus on physical work, I very very happy with this instructor, i have practiced years ago JKD, Thai Boxing and some Kali, but the approaching, the stress sessions, the methodology of KM it´s far better, I think.

I will tell to you if I can pass the Orange level test!!!
