tttSeptember 1, 2006 at 1:05 pm #49434roMemberWhat a sad day. She was such a cool person ! Always made the time to make one feel at home when visiting the center, look you in the eye and give you the warmest smile and hug !
What a loss.August 15, 2006 at 6:02 pm #49054roMemberkicking with REAL power and using the top of the foot is not a good idea.
July 21, 2006 at 5:29 pm #48375roMemberI’m not what you’d call a small guy but that wasn’t the point I was making. Any \”big\” guy will go down like a sack of potatoes with a well placed strike (groin, neck, knees, hamstring, etc.)
—- Maybe or maybe not. I’ve seen examples of guys taking solid shots to the groin, face etc. and keep going like it was nothing. I’ve hit people with very solid shots ( enough to cut or bust teeth) and they are still in the fight, and I think I can hit pretty hard !!
I guess the point should be: if you have to fight (no other choice) you better fight and fight hard, but you better not bet the farm on that \”one well placed shot\” especially when you are dealing with a person (such as mr. gorrilla) who has grown up with violence and is very used to getting hit as well as hitting back. There is nothing that will cause more panic than hitting someone as hard as you can and they don’t even seemingly flinch. (unless you understand that and don’t place any value on it – don’t freeze– and keep fighting….)

June 5, 2006 at 7:00 pm #47472roMemberI bet it’s a religious experience getting in the ring w. Mr. B. Rutten. You probably see God when he chinchecks ya.

I do love you. heheheApril 14, 2006 at 7:54 pm #46140roMemberEmil, long time no see ! I hope you are doing well.
American Kickboxing doesn’t allow kicks to the leg, but I know that there are (used to be ?) other European kickboxing events in which the rules allow leg kicks (but no knees, elbows). Basically like American style KB w. leg kicks. Even now look at K1 where they limit knees and don’t allow elbows – I guess trying to make Thai Boxing more user friendly ?

I would imagine there are so many things that go into preparing for such a sport. Where did you start? How did you know how many rounds of this or that? —
I would of never done this without having a coach that I completely trust. Eric Haycraft runs our MT program, is a profesional fighter and Trainer. He has manged many profesional fighters and has had fighters compete in Vegas K-1. So I knew going in that he would be able to push me beyond what I would be willing to do by myself and I wouldn’t second guess him. The training, just like in Krav, needs to be stressfull and should prepare you for anything that might happen (in this case, anything that can happen in the ring) Your body / mind needs to know that even when you are exhausted, you can still fight.February 3, 2006 at 8:15 pm #44104roMemberYou don’t train KM for an MMA fight. –
So true.
This shouldn’t be a surprise, nor does it take anything away from KM. But, they are two different animals. Of course there is some overlap but……
anyway, check out this vid. clip. This is exactly the type of pad work etc. we did to prepare.
